Shipping with Fastenal

FYI only ...

Thread is being submitted as a reference to those who would like information about shipping with Fastenal.

For a Quote, log onto: http://www.fastenal.com/web/en/22/third-party-logistics

I had quote back in less than 1/2 hr.

Freight costs seem reasonable. Quote to ship a Model 49 snow thrower from Dubuque, Iowa to Medina, NY was $125.

Re: Shipping with Fastenal

When I had my 332 shipped to me and calculated it out, it was about $0.30 per mile or so. CHEAP compared to freight companies.

Re: Shipping with Fastenal

Fastenal is a great option. Just be aware, as it has happened to me once.........some of their routes are nearly always full trucks.........so no empty space might be available for a backhaul............. But when it works.....its fantastic.

Re: Shipping with Fastenal

there can be delays and you are at their mercy when their trucks are full... The worst time of year here is winter when there's shipping so much salt for sidewalk treatment. trucks are always full going north.

This is good to know, Thank you! I've found garden tractors I really wanted across the country and shipping was too expensive.

This may work out great the next time.

Re: Shipping with Fastenal

I also have used Fastenal several times without a hitch. One thing to remember, if you are shipping a tractor, all fluids have to be drained. You also have to strap it to a pallet. That goes for all goods shipped by Fastenal. 125.00 was their lowest cost, but I think it's now 150.00. And, if your are the seller, you don't pay for shipping, the buyer pays on his end at pick up.

this is important - i got a motor from someone who had not shipped with them before and paid him in advance for the shipping cost, and it arrived at a fastenal that had not delt with back freight before - it took several days to sort out. The guy was stand up and we worked out how to get the item paid for between his location and mine, but just be aware.

Yes, that can happen. I bought a # 2 ih cart and the guy paid in advance for the shipping. I just ended up refunding him.
