3000 Series Deck Stop On A 60" Deck
I have a 3206 with a 44" deck, and I use the deck stop feature to control my cutting height. The deck wheels are set about 1/2" higher.
I'm working on a 3235 that has a 60" deck. The manual doesn't say anything about not using the deck stop for that deck, but a guy that works at my local Cub Cadet dealer said the deck stop feature shouldn't be used with the 60" decks. He said the wheels have to support the deck when mowing.
I've never mowed grass with the 3235 (or a 60" deck for that matter), so I don't know how it acts either way. Any opinions on this?
Also, there were some problems with the 60" deck. As I was looking over the parts diagram to order the necessary parts to fix it, I noticed that according to the parts diagram, they updated the rear roller wheel adjustment knob assembly. The adjustment knob assembly that's on the deck now is almost identical to the deck stop knob assembly. It has an indent wheel to hold the knob adjustment in place. The newer knob assembly looks like it locks in place, therefore the adjustment can't drift down from vibration. Has anyone had their rear wheel adjustment move on them?
It seems to me that if I use the deck stop the keep the deck wheels off the ground, the rear wheel adjustment will have less tendency to drift, whereas if the deck it set to roll on the wheels, the older adjustment knob design may allow the knob to turn freely, therefore changing the front/rear level.
