My 2009 Husqvarna 54" seen it's better days so replaced it with the XT3GSX.

Drove to the Cub dealership 2.5 hrs 1 way and picked up my Cub XT3GSX. This is my 1st Yellow machine and caught hell for buying it from the few neighbors I have since this is JD county. It came full of gas and a hat and owners manuals on Sept. 25th 2019.

Got her home and warmed up the mower and immediately put 4 or 5 hrs on it mowing. Broke her in right. LOL
Next few days I messed around with it and changed the engine oil and filter. Greased her up and back to mowing again. At 20 hrs I changed the rear hydro diff oil and filter and used 15w50 full synthetic as hydro manual stated to use. Being in Texas heat I found a engine oil cooler for it and installed it at 28 engine hrs.to help the engine stay cool. You can see it right below the fuel filter.

I use my Cub year round since I only have 2 seasons Summer and Spring. LOL I mow thru November then by February back at mowing again so the motor stays warm year round.
I installed a switch and some LED bars so I could mow in the dark during the hottest part of summer. Works great and can see great at night.

Found a trailer for it at Atwoods and then decided to put a 1/2" thick steel plate on the tow lip so it could never wear out the lip.

My front yard is 5 acres and then I mow along my drive way to the front gate and around my front gate area. It is a 3000 foot driveway. So I probably mow about 7 maybe 8 acres of grass.
I love the 60" Fabricated power lift deck and tilt steering and power steering.
Since my ice chest wouldn't ride between my legs without falling off so I made an insulated ice chest holder for it. This is s must have item for me to do mowing work. Sorry this pic is turned.

Now my Cub is 11 months old and just mowed and looked at the hrs I'm at 148 and on my 3rd set of blades. I grease it about every other mowing and I change my oil and filter ever 40 to 50 hrs with 10w30 Pennzoil Platinum.
I blow the stuff off it after each mowing using my IR air compressor work gave me for my 20 yr anniversary at work.

I don't have any regrets yet the machine has been pretty flawless and I'm at 56 yrs old now and loving the PS, and power lift deck. The 60" Fabricated deck does a really nice job cutting. I did replace the original spark plugs around 100 hrs. because the engine started hunting while at 1/2 throttle non mowing. I mow at 100% throttle. That cured the hunting issue. I really am enjoying driving my Cub and no problem to speak to badly about yet. I like mowing and making strips in the grass so my one complaint could be that you can't fit grass rollers on this machine since there isn't enough room between the deck and rear tires to install them like the Simplicity mower has. I didn't buy this Cub to do dirt work I have a machine for that stuff, this Cub job is mowing and hauling yard stuff and firewood to the fire pit and trash to the front gate that is so far away. I live 10 miles from the closest little town and love it out here in God's country. Here are a few pics of my yard and I highly recommend the Cub Cadet XT3GSX for mowing anyway. It is a really great machine for the money!!!
I cut hay and do my dirt work with the green one.

Re: XT3GSX 150 Hour Review

Thanks for the updated review Don. You have a beautiful place down there. I have 75hrs on mine and am pretty happy with it mowing 2-2.5 acres of rocks and hills. Just ordered a set of Rotary brand blades and will sharpen the originals and swap them out as needed.

That power steering and deck lift are really nice. Don't know how I ever got by w/o them.

Re: XT3GSX 150 Hour Review

Thanks for the review and the good news that it's working out really well for you. My XT3 doesn't have the hours that yours has being it was just purchased in May of this year but so far I am very happy with it. I mow in intense heat and humidity also and saved your post on the led lights https://www.mytractorforum.com/19-cu...3gsx-help.html that is my next project.

Thanks your place looks awsome to. You have really fixed it up nice!
Randy now you need a pic with that nice seat you just put on. I was able to salvage 2 sets of blades and have them sharpened and ready to go also. I did order 3 more new sets of blades but can't remember what brand they are.

Rudedawg thanks and you will like the LEDs for mowing later in the evenings. I don't even start mowing till the sun is behind the trees and everything is shaded. LOL I usually stop mowing at 10 or 11pm but I don't hesitate to keep going till I'm done. I'm sure my neighbor down the road think I'm crazy but I see it as smart mowing. LOL
If you ever decide to put a oil cooler on your motor, I got the kit for about $100 from Cub Cadet. It lowers the oil temp from 15 or so degrees in 99 to 100 degree heat and even more when its cooler out. Oh and those LED headlights in the hood still aren't bright enough to mow by, but the LED bars I put on under the brush guard are the trick and you can see perfectly the mowing path and being low to the ground up front the bugs don't bother you.

Thanks Mudyapster; yeah you got my attention with the oil cooler for sure. I was researching the CH680 which per Tractor Data is supposedly in my GS: TractorData.com Cub Cadet XT3 GS tractor engine information and while looking at it on the Kohler website https://kohlerpower.com/en/engines/p...pro-ch23-ch680 they state it has integrated oil coolers but there are no specifics. I would bet an external cooler like yours would be the way to go for our part of the country.
I will definitely talk to my dealer about one because you sure have sparked my interest on it and the light bars.
Thanks again.

I have the CH740 or CH750 Kolher I can't remember which but that looks like my oil cooler. Get the part number to the kit and shop around for the best price. I remember the price for the kit varied quit a lot just search the net for best price. Oh you don't have to take everything apart to put it on. I Just measured and cut a hole in the plastic shroud with my dremel tool and box knife. The kit comes with a templet I believe. I took pics of my install if you want more pics. Also I didn't need every piece in the kit. The kit I got might be the same kit you need. You can call Cub Cadet parts direct and they can give you the kit number then shop for the best price. Here's some more pics for you.

That is the best mod I've seen Randy. I know what kind of seat I'm getting when mine starts cracking and going to junk.

Good to see you on here again Don and glad the XT3 is still running well.

I mowed tonight for the first time since my knee surgery 2 weeks ago.

Went slow and careful and did well but it was a bit nerve racking. Grass was tall but the GSE knocked it down without batting an eye.

Well dang hate to here about your knee hope it is healing well.
I was headed up in your neck of the woods this week to stay 5 days in the Mena area but found out it's full of bikers and they have all the camp sights rented up and no vacancy. So having to delay that trip and just going to camp on a piece of property here in Texas of 5000 acres and do some buggy riding in the woods.
Glad your machine is going strong, how is that nice seat working out?

Sorry to hear the plans got rained out. We did just have our annual BBB(bikes, blues, and BBQ) bike rally here so that may acct for the bikers.

Seat is great and takes the sting out of my bumpy fields.

Glad to hear you got rain we are still in a burn ban here. No rain here in a while now. Guess mowing tomorrow while this cold front is here before we go camping. Our little weiner dog is liking this weather as well as the neighbors goats that came over to visit. LOL
I had to take them back home but they were nice and followed me 1/2 mile walk back to their pasture in the dark. They trimmed my Fig tree while they were here so that's 1 less thing to do.
