O-Rings for 3000 Series Spool Valves.

I'm rebuilding a couple 3000 Series spool valves. I have enough O-rings to do this project, but I will need to be getting some more.

I have used Buna N O-Rings that are 7/16" ID, 5/8" OD and 3/32" thickness on the spools I have rebuilt in the past and these seem to have worked fine, but I was wondering if there is a better O-Ring to be using.

After a quick search on Amazon I found that this appears to be a -111 size O-Ring and I see that they are available in Buna N(70A and 75A Durometer), Viton 75A and Silicon 70A versions.

What O-Rings are others using?

Would Viton or Silicon, be better suited to this application.

Here's what I used from Grainger... jury is still out as I believe 1 of them is having an issue (as evidenced by the puddle on the floor). They were the Buna N ones and the part #'s are IKET4 for the small O-rings on the lines, 3GCH7 for the backup ring, and 1RJG7 for the 11mm x 2.5mm spool rings.

Re: O-Rings for 3000 Series Spool Valves.

I put buna-n in my loader valve set in 1984 and they hadn't leaked up until I retired the tractor in 2006, about 2000 hours..

The Cub 3000 hydraulic sysyem poses more problems than other designs due to poor engineering. Too much stress on the orings as they are the only seals the spools have. They also move up and down in the spool valve body.

Re: O-Rings for 3000 Series Spool Valves.

There are only 2 O-rings per spool in both of the loader valve sets that I use. I recently replaced the ones in the valves for my SCUT which were an off white colour, and badly worn after only 900 hours. Buna-N is commonly black.

Buna-N is commonly used for cylinder piston seal O-rings that slide up and down in the cylinders.
