Gator Blades for Model 291 60" Deck?

I recently acquired a used Cub Cadet 3225 with the model 291 60" deck. It came with many sets of factory blades, all need sharpening. I've used Gator blades in the past on a Scotts S2048 (Home Depot orange version of JD Sabre) and loved them. I'd rather use Gators than the factory blades on the Cub, but the part number I've found (96-662) is discontinued.

Anyone use Gators on a 291 deck? What part number?

Re: Gator Blades for Model 291 60" Deck?

Surely someone else has a Model 291 60" deck on Cub 3000 Series... And they use/have used Gator Blades?

If I post some pix will I get a response? Here's my new-to-me Cub Cadet 3225 with 60" deck and plow. And the elusive 2nd and 3rd hydraulic valves. And the deck in question, awaiting delivery of the shoulder bolt for the tensioner pulley.

I have not used these blades but they are 20.5 inches with a 5/8 hole which should work for your deck.

I'm almost certain that all of the 3000 Series Decks use blades with 3/4" center holes.

I have a set of Gator Blades on my 60" deck, but I don't recall the part #. If I find the part # I will post it here.

Joelk you are correct that the spindle bolt is 3/4. Sorry for the confusion.

Oregon 96-677 is what is on mine and it appears that they are still available.

On a somewhat related note: Use caution if you use oversize tires with a 60" deck.

I use 25x10x12 or 25x11x12 ATV tire on some of my 3000 series. No issues with a 54" deck, but the tires will sometimes make contact with the curved "roller bar" on the 60" deck when the deck is raised.

Re: Gator Blades for Model 291 60" Deck?

Thanks for the blade info - I'll be buying a set!

Regarding the tires: The tractor came with a pretty new set of 24 x 10.5 x 12 turf tires (the factory size). Despite the blade that came with the tractor, I don't expect to use it to push snow or anything else (I have a Massey Ferguson 2924D for that), so the tires should work fine. If I have trouble in the springtime on a wetter, muddier lawn, I may look at a set of ag or ATV tires.

Thanks!
