Rude Cub Dealer

Went to a dealer today That's a Bit closer to Home Just for convenience. A Friend ordered new Rims for his 2017 Cub Cadet XT2 GX 54 D so He could have a second set of Front tires(I was Mounting the tires for Him.) Well they Came without Grease fitting(the Holes are there for the Grease Fitting) Well my friend was a Little Un-happy with some of the employees at My Normal dealer we Decided to try a closure dealer. BIG MISTAKE.

Well we went In just to either order or buy some OEM grease fittings.

Well the owner Proceeded to tell me because I didn't order the rims there. I was the reason his company was going out of Business and would not order any parts because of that. There No sign on the door there going out of Business and they were fully stocked with Cub Cadet & Husqvarna

I don't usually get heated in Public so we were walking out the door I said to my friend what a ******* Not Loud But I guess it was loud enough that the owner Heard. He said something back and I gave him the friendly middle digit wave and walked through the door and drove the 14 Miles further to the Dealer I normally deal with. Who has No problem with someone ordering rims directly from Cub Cadet and then ordering grease fitting from him.

Anyways I just wanted to look up the dealer. Not that reviews mean much. But His Better Business Bureau ratting is a F and Half the Yelp review were Bad .

Now I have worked Part time In this Industry Before at a Part's counter. I am use to some dealers Only servicing the Brands they sell. Which can be Understandable. I worked for a Deere dealer and we serviced all brands(thought behind that was maybe they might come back and buy a Deere) It could be a PIA in tracking down repair Parts for Brands we didn't sell.

But My Point with this Guy was. We were trying to support his Business by buying $4.60 grease fitting from him for a Brand he sells. So if He is going out of Business I think I can understand the reason why. There website says they service all brands and Models and specifically state's John Deere as well. I am Just flabbergasted by his response . Something I have never encounter before with any outdoor Power equipment dealer I go to,

Anyways he now has one more Poor Yelp review

Thats terrible. He could have taken the opportunity to gain new customers.
Could have offered to try an beat online prices and gained future sales and word of mouth. Instead he ends up with even less customers.

If the business goes under it's not from online sales, it's from his garbage attitude.

That place deserves to go OUT OF BUSINESS, makes you wonder how he made it this long. He wouldn't like me either cause I would be a good advertiser for him letting everyone I know just how well he helps a new person that walks in his door.
When trying to locate my new XT3GSX from any dealer with one in stock that I could buy, here's one for you.
The place was 75 miles from me and as I inquired about the XT3GSX the guys says, we only carry XT1s this year has been slow and I can barely keep my door open. I said, well how long would it take you to have one so I can come get it? His reply, they stopped making those expensive machine cause sales are bad and you'll have to settle for a XT1. He didn't offer to help at all and tried to feed me a line of crap and said the XT1 was just as good a machine. LOL I said ok if that's the case I'll go by HD and pick one up since HD is cheaper on the price and close to my work. That really set him off, I just hung up the phone on him. You think he would have offered to order me one.
Makes a person wonder how they stay in business. No help and crap for service gets a lot of publicity.
As you know I found a dealer with 3 on hand and I drove 2 1/2 hrs. and picked mine up. They had it ready when i got there with the tires Armor-alled and full of fuel. I walked in the guy said you must be so and so handed me a hat and the keys and said she's ready for you. He said here's your paperwork just sign here. I was happy he was happy and the service tech even came out and said call me if you have any questions or need me for anything. All smiles from them and their congrats to me on my new Cub. I was there maybe 10 minutes and left with a smile. That's service and I'd do it again even though they are 150 miles from my house. This dealer was a very large dealer of new equipment and commercial rental equipment of all brands. I see why they did so much business and were thriving excessively with customers. I paid full MSRP and was happy about it.
Strange how 1 place is crapping the bottom of the barrel and can't figure out why and another is bountiful and happy to see you. LOL

Re: Rude Cub Dealer

Itís incredible that these places remain in business. I ended up at Tractor Supply for my Cub snowblower because the Cub-sanctioned dealer/service person was such an a-hole. A month after buying the machine I had to get a warranty repair and the manager at TSC just swapped out the machine without any grief whatsoever.

*grins* On a related note, I refused to buy a GM vehicle for 33 years after the dealer, and Chevrolet, gave me a ration over work done...

Can't say as I blame you on GM products. I have a personal boycott against them myself since 2010. I'll probably never own another. There is an 2018 Arcadia in my barn, but it isn't mine and I've never driven it. Rhonda likes it guess that's what counts. I like my Ram 3500 dually and my Challenger just as I like my Cub XT3GSX.

Re: Rude Cub Dealer

I'm seeing more and more of these threads on different boards. I have to wonder which came first, bad business or bad business practices. Are they losing it and showing it because they're losing business? Or are they losing business because they've lost it, maybe never really had it?

You know, I really got lucky on my dealer. To start with, they're literally 5-10 minutes away from my home. They've known me in one form or another for years. Before we lost the farm my father would go there for IH parts, and once in a while I'd get a toy out of it. As I got older I would go and look at the larger Cubs, and the various subcompact tractors. After I returned home in 2010 it got really bad. I would show up just to drool over the GT2000 and Massey GC's, and end up being there for an hour shooting the bull with the sales guys. Then when I was ready to buy they were wonderful, working with me to put together a setup to my liking. They also refrained from laughing at me when my credit took a hit, and I realised I was going to have to so it piece by piece.

Now, since I bought the XT3 it's just become ridiculous. Since then I've gone back for accessories, parts, etc. Even installing the sleeve hitch from Sergeant with not so much as a word about where it was purchased. They said they'll even do the installation of the JB lift when I eventually get one. Now I've also come to know the parts and service department, and they're just as helpful and just as willing to flap their jaws with me. On top of all this, the salesman noticed that I've already been in for two PTO belts and was all set to have it brought in to have the pulleys looked at. Well, I let him know the second set was all my fault, but he cared enough to notice and that says a lot.

While I'm happy with my Cub Cadet, I'm extremely happy with my dealer. I don't understand how any business owner, especially a small business, can be so rude to their customers. It's not sustainable.

That said, if you would PM me the name of the dealer I would love to read those reviews. Lol.

Re: Rude Cub Dealer

I'm just a GT guy, and my JD dealer is a major Michigan dealer with 9 stores, all in serious Agg areas. So I order an X500 and they treated me like I was buying $250,000 machine. Like others have noted, it was serviced and ready when I got there after a 2 hour one way trip to pick it up.

Sales guy spent half an hour with me out in the shop among many quarter of a million dollar machines, going over everything on my 500 machine. Literally EVERYTHING.

He was in good humor and a decent guy. This is why I still drive past other equipment dealers to buy parts and accessories there. So many people have lost sight of who is paying the bills...the customer....and have some "you owe me" attitude.

What's a "Hey how ya doing?" worth? First, it keeps me in your store, second it starts a good conversation that just might end up with an order.

This isn't complicated, but I guess so many just don't get it.

There are good and bad in all businesses.
That dealer should have been a bit nicer to your friend, after all, he opted for an OEM part. Me, I would have just gone to NAPA and got one for the fraction of the price.

Re: Rude Cub Dealer

When I was looking for the back ordered mulch kit for my 54 fab deck, I called several dealers. One of my local ones was the nicest and spent several minutes looking up info and physically going to check inventory, all for a mulch kit. Ultimately they didnít have one, but I thanked him for all his help and time. I would gladly bring my machine to them for service.

I also met a mult brand dealer while on the road,(kubota, husk, bobcat, cub). I let him know up front I wasnít from the area but he still gave me 20 minutes of time to cover pros and cons of Kubota BX vs Kubota UTVs and Cub blower for my xt3, know thatís helpful.

Customer Service.
This is a subject sorely debated across all industries. How much, how little, or if it even works. Since it is incredibly difficult to place a monetary value on this practice, many simply ignore it. It is another of those variables in the business world.

PM sent OFV

Well My normal Guy that I go to Had Bought out The dealer I went to for Years Because He wanted to retire as his Son didn't want to take over the Business & his Son In Law was Killed when there stock Car fell on him The Son In Law was originally going to take the Business over.

But the company that bought out my dealer had also Been a IH dealer like them and has also been in business for 3 generations I Tested out there shop had them do some work On My old IH Cub Cadet 106. Did the work and did a great Job so that is why I use them for My cub Dealer. I didn't Buy My XT3 GSX from them Because another dealer had a Month old XT3 GSX in stock and I didn't want one that had been sitting on the shop floor for a while. But Other than that I usually buy parts and have service done by Ralph Helm. Just thought I would try a dealer that was a few Miles closer as My Friend doesn't Have a trailer & that maybe the closer dealer would be less of a cost for Pick Up and delivery if He ever did Need service. Well don't Think That will happen now especially they way he treated us.

I have a great re-pour with MY JD dealer Probably because I use to do some Part time work for them and I know all But 4 People there 2 New Mechanics and 2 salesmen I see the head Turf Mechanic outside of the dealership we Go tractor Hunting together He also the auctioneer for Mecum Tractor auctions
He also the one that will tell the other Mechanics to make sure they do a good Job On My equipment Because he tells them if they don't he knows I will be In to Nitpick Two weeks ago I spent Probably 4 hrs at the Deere dealership just shooting the breeze with service and sales and I was Just there to Pick Up My mechanically restored 1964 JD 110 Which had been already cosmetically restored By the Previous owner They even fixed My drive shaft for My Blower and didn't charge me a thing even though there owned By Bigger dealership now. At least for me. They go out of there way and I am Just a token Buyer compared to what the Farmers spend yearly.

They will be Mounting My Tektite Cab on my 2025R when it come In In January and I am going there On the 7th of January to To switch a 42inch deck from a X330 to a X590 and Take Pictures That I can send to Rugedawgs Deere dealers In Mississippi and there Moving both Machines to the shop

But it kind of nice even the closer JD dealer(owned By the same company as the Green Part store) I occasionally use has no problems with me Buying Parts even though I didn't Buy from them.

I use to drive 60miles to WI to a Simplicity dealer to have any tires Mounted as they had the Best price for mounting tires and would do them while I waited and they were usually on Deere rims as Far as service went they were Great.

But Now I do tires Myself because that Simplicity dealer is out of Business But they never had a Problem working on stuff You didn't Buy from them.

Well I don't feel sorry for that Cub Dealer I know why there Business is Bad or there going under

My current truck is a GMC Sierra, bought after my Ford dealer from whom we've bought six vehicles since 1992 offered me an insulting 'deal' on a new F150, including telling me he could by the car I was trying to trade in for $X at auction (much lower than KB ball-parked, in other words). I never looked back, and decided to give GM another chance as it had been so long and the dealer had a good rep, etc. I was not disappointed, and I've had no complaints about this truck.

On the other hand, this Ford place has a top notch service department, and I take our other car there regularly. They are connected to a Quick Lane store, too, and that was where I bought the new tires for my truck this year.

And my Cub... it has been a great little snowblower!

Re: Rude Cub Dealer

The dealer I (and before me, my dad and brother) was buying equipment and parts from, has really gone downhill. It was bad enough that one of the employee's (direct relation to the owner), would go out of his way to make customers feel bad (directly insult them, or their family), but then when ordering parts, they would say "it'll be about a week" and then after a week or two, I would phone them and find out they hadn't bothered to order the parts yet, or had "lost" the order, so I would only go there to buy parts if they had them in stock. But this last time, I phoned about some belts, they had them in stock, so I drive over, takes about 20 minutes, get there and "Oh, we just installed them on another machine, you'll have to order them. Sorry about that."
