Yep, seen that on other machines here to. I've been mowing on 3/4, will do 5 or higher for the rest of the season.

In the odd chance anyone's interested - our 54" fab'd deck takes 3 of these blades.

Re: How Many XT3 Owners Out There, Post A Pic

According to the MTD web page 01005380 is the part number and they are listed as $ 29.11 each.
I can't tell if they're mulching blades or not. There's no verbiage to indicate if there's an alternative blade.
I'll be looking a Gator Blades next. I find they keep an edge longer. Tho, in general, my experience has been that there's only a surface tempering in any mower blade I've tried. Once you start sharpening them the edge life goes down rapidly.

Hey Sergeant,
I see a green GT Craftsman once in awhile. No number just says GT. What transmission do they have and are they fairly good? Can't find any info on them. I assume since it's a Craftsman it must be pretty good? And how about the Cub Cadet GTX 2100. I assume since they have the BDU-10 transmission they must be pretty good as well?
Thanks

The 3 blades that came on mine are high lift blades part #742-04415. They do a great job but was wondering what blade may do better on my sandy soil.
I'm guessing no matter what blade I use the sand will still wear them down quick. That's ok my old 54" cut Husqvarna would only see 28 hrs of use and the blades were shot.
I think my only resolution for longer blade life is for me to mow my grass as tall as I can and still like the way it looks. Setting 4 is ok and may be my height limit for my liking. I may try setting 5 my next mowing and see if I like the grass that tall.
I need to order another set of blades right now either way I just put on my last new set.

Thank for that part number. I have been told that "hi lift" blades are better for Bahia grass. So I'll be on to the dealer today with that number.
During our purchasing my wife insisted on mulching blades.
Looking under the deck I didn't see any obvious add-ons other than the blocking pkate. We did get the grass chute and a couple other pieces at delivery. I'll give them a look today.

I did get a brief Cub Cadet manual with the 54" deck. Don't recall seeing _any_ blade part numbers in either manual but I'll recheck.

My deck is a 60" fab deck and I don't think the 742-04415 will fit a 54" deck. They are 21" blades.
The dealer should be able to give you the right part number for your blade.
I also have that tough Bahia grass those stims are crazy how fast they grow over night.

I just placed an order for 3 sets of blades for $95 so that's 9 blades on there way. That should be plenty of blades to get me thru till next year.

FYI-
Oh I was going to mention that I have heard of on some blades having the same part number and being of different lengths at the same time. So check the length on the blade you buy.

When I read the settings you mow at I was surprised. I put 2" taller tires on my XT3 to gain 1" more height and mow my lower field with it set on 6 to clear the rocks.

Up top near the house I mow at 3 as it is smoother. The field looks good mowed at 6. I think as long as the grass cut is even it looks good. Bump that deck height up and save your blades.

Just seems strange there seems to be nothing anywhere for the Green Craftsman GT number only. I bet the tranny is the one you mentioned of course. There is a local one for sale that looks great has a sleeve hitch and front blade, 20 horse, for $850. Of course big rear tires and lug bolts, etc.
Thanks

The GTX2100 is pretty much the GSX XT3model without the diff lock. GTX2100 has Power Steering and electric deck lift, just no diff lock.
It is a great tractor, cast iron BDU-10 it does everything nicely.

Have made a few mods. Johnny Products sleeve hitch, switch for headlights, LED bulbs, added lights front and rear, volt meter on dash, electric deck chute actuator, power AUX switch on dash for sprayer etc, Carlisle Tru Power AG tires. It is a nice machine for what I need. I have a cub cadet 400 tiller from 90's that a guy made a sleeve hitch adapter for, so it runs that 8HP tiller, have box blade, cultivator and a wicked trailer. Love it.

My front yard is 5 acres so I like the whole thing to look like a golf course instead of golf course with rough. LOL
I did mow this time at level 4 but next time maybe level 4 around the house and 5 on the bigger part. I tried 5 this last time and didn't care for it.
I don't mind buying more blades I just ordered 3 full sets this morning or 9 more blades. I figure if I'm taking the time to mow it then I want it to look it's best to me and the wife. My Weiner dog doesn't like tall grass either since he has no ground clearance. LOL

Re: How Many XT3 Owners Out There, Post A Pic

I know 60" blades should be too long for a 54" deck. But having that number mght come in handy talking to dealer since yousaid they are hi lift blades.
