Bolens HT-20 problem

I have a bolens ht-20. When i drive from my house, i first have to go downhill before there is a little flat part and then uphill again. When i come to the flat part of the road, its like the tractor does not have any power, and when i start to go uphill it regains power. Anyone know what the problem can be ? Sorry if my english is a little bad

Re: Bolens HT-20 problem

Could be: low oil, clogged filter, incorrect oil.
Strange that it has less power on the flat than it does going up the hill.

Your English isn’t ‘poor’ at all. The HT-20 has an in-line Sundstrand 15 series transmission. It consists of a piston pump directly coupled to a piston motor. What’s happening is the motor is spinning faster and using more flow than the pump is producing. It’s cavitating; which is very bad for motor.

You should rev engine to maximum (governed) speed, while keeping speed control treadle low.

Or, use brakes.
