Got some painting done.

I finally got time to paint the rear wheels and weights that I swapped onto my 1220 from the 1054 last winter. Lots of cleaning and sanding after I removed the tires. Going to wait a couple of days before remounting the tires. Not sure yet which tractor I will put them on.

Re: Got some painting done.

Nothing quite like freshly painted wheels to dress up a tractor. Great job David!

Re: Got some painting done.

Thanks for the compliments guys! Now I have to spoon the tires back on and try to not bugger up the paint. I usually use something for a pad between the rim and tire-iron. A piece of an old inner tube or scrap of carpet, heavy cardboard works ok too. Going to wait another day or so till I try it. Probably have some touch up to do regardless, no biggie.

Re: Got some painting done.

Well, I was going to wait till tomorrow to mount the tires but had some time and decided to do it today. I mixed some dish soap about half n half with water and generously lubed the beads of the tires. I was able to twist and push the rim into the tire on the first side. No tire-irons needed. I almost could push the tires bead down over the rim on the second side, possibly could have walked them down on if I had been wearing my work boots. I used an old weld-glove for a pad between the rim and tire-iron and luckily didn't mar the paint. Nice when tires go on that easy. Might be because they are fairly new and still quite flexable unlike older tires that aren't. Right now I'm thinkin' these will go back on the 1220. More on that later.

Re: Got some painting done.

Put them back on the 1220. Probably be a couple of days before I add the weights. I used Rust-Oleum Colonial Red.

Re: Got some painting done.

Another pic. I let lots of kids sit on it so parents, grandparents could get pictures. Event was called a Strawberry Festival, fund raiser for the Lions Club. Was a car show there too.
