Advice - Used Simplicity Conquest

I am looking to replace my current Simplicity Express 14.5 Gear tractor. I see a Conquest local to me. 50" deck 18Hp engine. 750 hours for $1595. From the pictures it appears to be in good cosmetic shape. I have asked the seller what year it is but have not gotten a response yet. There are no other attachments. It's just the tractor.

The tractordata.com site does not show a Simplicity Conquest with 18HP and a 50" deck. They show a 18HP model with a 44" deck and then a 23 hp, 25hp, and 27hp with a 50" Deck.

I had a couple questions.

1) Is it possible the seller had replaced the 44" deck with a 50" one? If so, is 18HP enough for the longer blades? (I'm guessing both the 44" and the 50" each have 3 blades, but they would be longer on the 50")

2) is $1595 a decent price?

3) What would be some things to check on this tractor? Common problems or failures?

Thanks

Re: Advice - Used Simplicity Conquest

Welcome to the forum.

1) 18HP more than enough power for the 50". You could get 50"'s on them brand new.
2) Price it too high. It's definitely an older one say from the early 2000's. I think around 1000 a better price for average used condition. Safe to assume someone listing for 1595 is probably a re-seller so you might not get good history of the machine.
3) Make sure to run it awhile and get it hot and transmission hot too. Go up hills when it's hot. The deck lift handles like to wear out, make sure it operates like it should. Check for leaks around the crankshaft underneath. Check to make sure engine is not all packed with grass etc. under the shrouds as best you can.
