Full deck replacement - possible (at reasonable cost)?

9 year-old Regent with a 44" deck. Under 200 hours on the motor. Runs great.

The deck, however, is probably shot. The back right roller mount to the deck rotted away last year. I got this welded back without incident, and it lasted about 95% of this season.
Now, the rest of the back of the deck is detaching. I'm going to have it looked at, but my best guess is that it's a goner.

I've seen the part price of the new deck housing (only) at something north of $1000. This seems like gouging, given the price of the entire unit new. Am i misreading something, or is my only sure-fire way out a new tractor?

Unless I read it wrong I saw the housing only (new) for 504.00 at Small Engine Parts Warehouse.

Legacy XL 4x4: Hardside Cab, 47" Two Stage Snowblower, 60" Deck, Front End Loader. Prestige 27HP/54" Deck, Simplicity Chipper/Shredder. Fimco 25 gallon tow behind sprayer

Keep an eye on craigslist. I see Simplicity decks for sale pretty frequently, some are asking the moon for them and others are quite cheap.
