Thumbs up Re: tractor ID needed?

That's a Model 9518 tractor. They were built from 1981-1983, the engine is a Toyosha 1.0L 18HP version. Those were available in both 2WD and 4WD, and I am pretty sure they were actually built in Japan. Looks like it could be a real workhorse!

LOL,,9518,,I see it now. It is a beast of a tractor,,much bigger than it seems in pictures.

Re: tractor ID needed?

I havent had a chance to see if this thing runs, I was told it does.
But I have found out,,there are very few parts that are available for it. That is a big problem.

It does look like a complete tractor though,,on the bright side.

Same as the Alis Chalmers 5015

I have looked at allot of videos trying to figure out where the battery goes? lol There is no mount ,or battery wires on it now.I believe it mounts on right side of tractor, next to the starter. On the outside of panel??
I have the 4wd model . Not allot of info out there about these,so far.

This machine is a bit outside my comfort zone. Being a diesel and 4wd. Im going to try to start it today though.

In the pictures I have looked at, the battery resides in front of the radiator between the radiator and grille.

I assume he means an air cleaner, which appears to be missing from the end of the intake.

Re: tractor ID needed?

The air cleaner is mounted in the hood. Not hooked up as it sits.

But there was a piece missing on the radiator hose. In picture you can see a open spot between hoses. I spliced it back together with a solid fitting. Not sure what was there?? Maybe a water /fluid filter??

BTW,,it runs. Started fairly easy considering it has been sitting awhile and I dont know what Im doing with this diesel. I cant read any of the labels around the control knobs. I have no idea what they all do. lol But it started.

I have a big problem though. Anyone know where I can get some parts for this?? Found out the hard way ,,something important is missing.

Re: tractor ID needed?

I know that this post is a little old, but did you find out where you can get parts from? I'm looking at buying one right now and it needs the head repaired. the one I'm looking at is a Simplicity 9518 4wd wit a 48" rear finish mower, 6' back blade and a 48" bucket. It also has ag tires which I really like. I did hear it run one time, then the owner tried to start it when it was below zero outside and used starting fluid. He took out a second valve in the process. Not sure exactly what happened, but he said he saw a piece of metal fly out the glow plug hole when he was changing them and thought it was part of the glow plug that was missing. However, it would not start after that. It was already missing on one cylinder prior to this incident.

Thanks in advance for any info you can help me with.

Re: tractor ID needed?

Yes I found you can find some parts from dealer,,but not everything. I found 1 simplicity dealer that can track parts down,,and again,,not all dealers can do it. I have no idea why?
I also found a Massee Ferguson dealer that can find parts,,better than anyone. For a MF 1010,,it is the same thing.
I bought timing cover gaskets,,oil filters, oil seals and some other minor things. The parts are expensive!!! Normal times 10. I believe the oil filter cost me $45. lol
I have no idea if they could get a head,,but maybe? I have also found several of these tractors for sale. Go to market place on face book and search it. Probally one there now,,in some state across the country. That might be the best option.
A guy had a running 3 cyc diesel engine for $1000 for one of these not long ago,,and complete parts tractor .$1500 for all.

Re: tractor ID needed?

And BTW I got my tractor running and it works great!!! The piece missing in the coolant hose section was a block heater,,which is now installed.
I still wish I knew how to set the fuel injection timing? I think it is a little off,,but it runs good,,starts hard sometimes.
My engine will hardly warm up to 140 degrees no matter how hard it is run,,even if 100 degrees outside. lol Im not sure if that is good or bad?

Re: tractor ID needed?

Can anyone tell me if the bolt pattern on a MF 110 2wd engine is the same as the bolt pattern for the simplicity 9518 or the AC 5015 4wd. I found a complete running engine with low hours on it but want to make sure that the bolt pattern is the same. I assume they are since the engines were made for many tractors, but need to be positively sure. I can get the engine for 500.00.
