What are lappys?
so if the speed is fixed, I guess the windings make 50Hz at 20rpm, and the Schaller at 40rpm?

Does the speed affect the power generated? I would imagine the higher rpm makes more power but more noise.

A guy I knew had to move when one was put near the house he lived in, it was driving him nuts.
Actually, that might have been the same one that burned...

While they may seem quiet, they evidently produce a low frequency noise which can affect your health. Read here:

Re: those Great Big Windmills..

Really? No audible sound?
That's amazing.
I had my camper parked under one in the Netherlands and it made a deep whoosh once every few seconds as the blades went past.
That was about 12 years ago and the thing had been there for a while; maybe they've improved by now.

That must be a fun project...putting those together.

I once saw a flipped semi with one of the blades on a exit ramp. The curve was to sharp for him and he was going to fast. It was a mess... i dont think anyone was hurt though.

our blades r 193 feet long.. so far we have seen 2 of our blades got the trucks turned over.. just the other day one flipped over.. the driver found a soft spot when he was exiting the hiway.. the rear wheels r steerable by a remote unit.. the other one had the remote unit which the battery died..
