Very happy! Smoked like a chimney. It is missing the front sticker, though.

Cool! The Robin looks really good on there. It's strange that there's no decal on the front like the other one had and you can see the holes where the JOHN DEERE badge goes.

I mowed with it for about an hour today. I'm glad I spent the money. This is the greatest mower I've ever used. It is much better than the smart drive Honda HRX I could've gotten for the same price. The lawn I mowed hadn't been mowed yet this season. The Robin powered through the 8-9" grass without the slightest hint of bogging. I used about 1/3 of a tank of fuel in an hr and 20 min. It runs very smooth and starts first pull. It rolls easily on the ball bearing wheels, but You have to be an idiot to buy the push version. And yes, that is an M bag.

Re: Ultimate 21" Mower

Sorry to bump an old thread, but my brother just picked up one of these, non-starting (probably carb) but otherwise in good condition, for $25. I can't wait to get it home - my brother lives about 60 miles away so I don't get over there that often.

Update on this (yes, a year late) - my worst fears were confirmed (as to why it was selling so cheap) - no, the deck is just fine, but the crankshaft is bent. I looked up the cost just of a bare crankshaft and just about wet myself. So I'll probably install a Kawasaki FC150V off of another old JD 14xx unit with a trashed deck (I have parted out 3-4 of those). That engine has enough power for me and I already have a few of them so it won't cost me anything. The commercial wheels are really nice, and the deck has the steel edge guards on it as well - the machine is a tank for sure.

This will be my toe-tag (translation: mower that I have when I die, and are in the morgue with a toe tag) walk-behind. It's not self-propelled, so as I get older, due to its weight I may end up continuing to use my Jacobson/Homelite 21" Super Bagger or an old silver-series Lawnboy 4-cycle that is also pretty light as well as self-propelled. Grab one if you find one!

Made me think of the original version of the movie 'The Longest Yard' only just a bit different with the chant:

GREEN MACHINE....GREEN MACHINE....GREEN MACHINE

Re: Ultimate 21" Mower

I have several of these robin 6.5 engines just sitting around. I thought about making one of these but I don't have a working deere commercial trans. if you want it badly enough and will pay for shipping-I could send you a good block with good crank. I cant imagine the whack it took to bend the crank on one of these. my one working 6,5 is on a comm snapper and one of these is all I want/need-too heavy

You're right about it being heavy! But I've never had one of these Robin engines before so I would like to get it running, even if I end up not using it as my daily driver. I'll PM you my email address and we can talk offline.
