There are many more but it would take up a whole thread to list them all, but if you're ever in the Michigan or Metro Detroit area give these places a try you wont be disappointed. :fing32:
Isaac's Rest. in Pymouth Ma. Off Rte. 3 in downtown Plymouth. Just off Rte 3 if your heading toward or leaving Cape Cod Can't beat the food or the view of the harbor.
Fireside Grill just off the rotary (traffic circle) in Middleboro Ma. Junktion of rte 28 , 495 and rte 44. Great place!
Neither of these fit the description of D D and dives but they're 2 of our favorites. :trink39:
I used to eat every day at dinsers in Fitchburg MA where I was born, when I worked in that area..The River St.Diner was great, but I think the owner has passed on many years ago now,not sure if the place still exists..
The "East Side Diner" was another good one,I saw it for sale on CL not long ago,for 100K!..guess I wont be eating there again..
My dad always had breakfast at the Morin Square Diner in downtown Fitchburg,he took us there after church on Sunday often..all 3 of these diners were the classic "boxcars" and had a neat nostalgic charm you cant re-create in a modern resturaunt...
I have not eaten at "Dave's Diner" in Middlkeboro since it first opened--its a nice new "retro" boxcar diner, but the food was
lousy the last time I went there..been years since I ate at Sissons Diner on Rt.28 in South Middleboro, but they used to have good food...

Morning breafast & coffee for me was at the local downtown 'Village Restaurant'.. The entertainment with all of the local folks and the controversies and 'ribbing' made the experience all the more enjoyable.. (kinda like MTF) I've brought up a little food or coffee laughing at them lots of times over the years.. And hey.. the food was pretty good too..:trink40:
Although, in my area... if I have to pick a favorite, it would be Carl's Diner in Oxford, Mass. How can you NOT love a place that will hide your meal (and not a small task at that) in BACON! Yes sir, a full plate of eggs and home fires will be hidden in close to a pound of bacon! Mmmmmm Oh, and if you do finish it all, they will give you more if you dare! I like to joke and tell them to give me extra bacon...

BBQ Smokehouse in Priceville, Alabama, just outside of Decatur. One half mile west of I-65 at exit 332 on SR 67. It's on the left. BBQ, fried okra, fried squash, try the BBQ chicken and white BBQ sauce.
Talley's Log Cabin Bar, big beautiful downtown Lewiston, MI. Awsome Burgers, Fries, and Chili. :thThumbsU:thThumbsU:thThumbsU
Bear Butt Bar, ECkerman, In Michigans Rugged Upper Peninsula. Just south of Paradise,MI. Great Food.:thThumbsU:thThumbsU
West End Peir, Sault St. Marie, MI. Largest Burges and fries for the money.:thThumbsU:thThumbsU:thThumbsU
We are heading to Arizona in a week or so and are there any places you would recommend in Tuscon or Yuma? How about Lake Havasu and or Parker? If you are ever in the Spruce Grove Alberta area, Annies has great Chinese food and Jacks has the best burgers.
And then you can't beat the local cuisine....Cincinnati style chili!!!
Yeah....we put "chili" over spaghetti noodles, it's a love or hate type thing:fing32:
We have either Skyline, Gold Star, and Empress. Guy Fieri actually came and did story on it.
Been going to Harold's Burger Bar in Centralia, Washington, since I was a kid. Harold believed in doing things right, making them good, and being clean and food-safe. You couldn't say that about some other places back then...
The kids are running the place now, and are still following Harold's old-fashioned philosophy. You get a burger and fries where the sack gets transparent from the grease, they always taste GREAT, and are consistently good every time. I'm not in the area often any more, but when I'm there, I don't bother with the new places by the freeway! It's worth the drive to the old part of town - to Harold's.
The place can be a little hard to find nowadays, because it used to be on the main drag; but time and "progress" have moved the main streets a few blocks to the west. But the little stand still sits proudly on the side of the street, and it's still painted white and green (see photos).
I noticed that it's still getting good reviews, but you get one or two grumblers where they didn't bother to look at the price before ordering. You want the works, you pay for it and get fabulous stuff; but it ain't McDonald's cheap!
Still ranks with us as "one of the best places we've ever eaten."
Hey I wanted to add another one to the list : Middlesex Diner, Exit 52 on rt. 11 in Carlisle PA. We Stop There every time on the way back from Shriner's in Philadelphia. Good Home style food with a large selection. my newest favorite from there is rodeo chicken wrap
My friend and I were talking about DDD, MvF, and similar shows and concluded that you pretty much couldn't go wrong opening a joint where the menu was nothing but the killer dishes from those shows.
My favorite would have to be TOM THUMB HAMBURGERS in Fort Dodge Iowa on Hwy 169. They have a DQ on the front part of the building. They make their own rolls and buns. I get the bacon double cheese and a pound box of seasoned frys every time I get a tow up in that area. My brother and I drove 90 mi out of the way just to eat here once
My favorite is a small drive in called Mrs.Mikes in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Great burgers and fries with chili. If you order a chili burger it is in a round take out container and then the chili is poured over top. You eat your burger with a spoon. Closes down from about Christmas till late Feb. or early March. I am going through withdrawl about this time of year.lol. Other places have the same type stuff but the chili is just not as good. I usually get there about once a week in the summer months.
If you're ever near Fairmont, WV. and like Italian, one of the very best eating places in the state is at Muriales Italian Restaurant, been in business since 1969 and one of my favorite places to have dinner at when I'm over that way :rauch10:.
Trapper's cafe in Taylor Arizona
Mrs. Kitty's Diner in Snowflake, Arizona on Concho Highway at the country store.
I forgot the name of it but it is across the street from road kill diner in Seligman Arizona.
Grumpy Jakes in Show Low Arizona.
