Re: Honda pic thread

Here is my 5518 I just picked up on Thanksgiving weekend. I bought it from the second owner 's son.

It came with a dozer blade, snowblower attachment, wheel weights and tire chains.

Re: Honda pic thread

I know this is a pic thread but I wanted to post a video of the H5013 snow blowing a bit, if i should make a new thread or post videos elsewhere please let me know. There was only 4-5 inches so it wasn't tossing the snow like it can. I usually have to angle it when I get towards the end of the drive so I don't throw it into the neighbors across the street's yard/driveway. There aren't many videos of the Honda tractors blowing snow so I wanted to contribute.

That brings back many memories for me, as I was in Service Communications for Honda at that time, and wrote the shop manual and onwer's manual for those tractors.

We had a team travel up to the Deere plant in Horicon, WI, to get familiar with how they were going to build the 'Hondeere' for us. It was really impressive...every single person there was totally dedicated to making the best tractor possible. They had robotic carts, which traveled around the plant, automatically adjusting the height to match the worker's preference, as the carts 'knew' who was clocked in and working. This made it super easy to quickly configure the plant to build 'red' tractors. I recall they had reusable crates, a big cost saver, and would pull every third unit for a top-to-bottom quality audit. With the Honda V-twin engine, we really had high hopes for it being a solid model, but sales were, well, not so great. It would end up being the last riding equipment product Honda would sell in the USA. <sigh> Not so bad...congrats to me for 26 years with Honda this week! Five more to go!

Yeah, the first H2013 was nicknamed 'the toaster' and morphed into the H2113, which had a modern hood and headlights; they were both built at Honda's Swepsonville, NC plant

I think the ones sold in the USA were in production 1989-1991...just a guess.

I've been wanting to replace my kinda tired '87 HT3810, but good condition later model Honda GT's seem to be few and far between, at least around here.

I know Honda is a conservative company when it come to Car design. But I always though what the heck were they thinking with the Model 2013 I guess it was there answer to the JD STX which Most don't know Deere did have a Optional Headlight kit for them.
But Thanks for the Incite on the Harmony Lawn Tractors

Re: Honda pic thread

I have been in the car industry 45 years. ( Retired Now )

when a designer does not make it into the car industry.. .. they go into Farm/Lawn equipment industry...

the people that get "C" and "D" grades need someplace to go..

but then there is the "TOY" thing as well

Look at "Hot Wheels"

Re: Honda pic thread 4514

Here's some pictures of my latest project: a 4514 that I picked up for $200. I've never had a Honda tractor before, mostly Simplicity over the years, but I'm really liking this one. It was severely rusted under the seat, not running and had been sitting outside for years, but the plastic came back surprisingly good sitting in Armour all for a few days and with some welding and Bondo, the sheet metal looks acceptable. Cuts nice, runs nice and just the right size for my severely downsized yard.

They are extremely nice tractors and your's looks great Fonz. I've had a few, but Wife could never get used to the fact the hydro shifted back into neutral every time she used the brske, Her HT3810 stays in the same gear when the brake pedal is released so we kept it instead for her.

Re: Honda pic thread

Thanks Larry. I'm supposed to go pick up a 3813 today so I'll know what your talking about with the gear driven trans. I'd like to buy a 4218 with a snow thrower but haven't been able to find any locally.

This other photo shows how it was when i purchased it some months back. Guy painted it with a brush and roller!
