I picked up a complete ht3813 that had been sitting a few years. The guy said it needed a starter. Started going through it and fixing what needed. New blades, belts, etc. Starter was fine but needed a new soleinoid. It had an aftermarket one on it but it did crank when it had power. New plugs. Even drained and cleaned the fuel tank and put a new filter in. The engine would not start. Decided the timing belt had jumped. Took it apart and found a mouse nest inside the cover. And it was off timing by about 10 notches. Cleaned it up and put a new belt on. Cleaned the flywheel of rust, as well as the charging coil and ignition coil. Ohmeter checked fine on charging coil, and was on the high end of spec on the ignition coil. The secondary test involving the spark plug wire end didn’t work at first, but with enough fiddling it gave me a reading. Put it all together and it still won’t start. Set the correct air gap on flywheel and ignition coil before assembly too. I’m getting spark when I pull a plug and sit it outside the engine. I’m getting plenty of fuel. I pulled the back of
The engine off and the timing is still correct. Any ideas on why it won’t start?? I’m going to replace the coil and put a new set of plugs in. How do the new boots go on the plug ends on a new coil?
I’m out of ideas here.
