Seperate Choke Control

So just wondering out loud here...............I am not crazy about the throttle and choke being on one control. I have an aversion to having to have throttle wide open to activate choke which causes engine to start at WOT. So curious if anyone else has installed a second control for choke only? Maybe show some photos?

Re: Seperate Choke Control

No, but I'm thinking about doing the same thing.

I have a Husqvarna YTH2348 yard tractor/mower. I have to open the hood, and pull up on the choke rod to fully close the choke before it will start - even with the throttle in the "choke" position.

I've adjusted the choke/throttle cable several times, but it just doesn't last. I thought about running a separate cable just to the choke rod, so that it will operate independent from the throttle. Please let me know how you make out. Thanks, Cal

Re: Seperate Choke Control

Well I got a separate choke knob installed and was actually able to install it in such a way that the choke will work either independently of the throttle or as designed when used at full throttle as a fail safe. But I can now start the little guy up without having to rev the crap outta the engine at just over idle. I will put photos up. I have no idea of the part number of the cable and control I used as they were some pieces I had picked up like 30 years ago from the old Northern Hydraulics up in the north burbs of Minneapolis. Still had the price tag on them. I paid whopping $.29 each LOL.

I am having the same problem with my Husky 2448 as both of the above posters. Thinking about doing the separate choke cable also. If weather cooperates with me today, I'll give it a try and post results here. Thanks to both of you for the great tips.
