leaf blower

Anyone use a Redmax hand held leaf blower. I have a Redmax backpack blower and it works well. I'm looking to buy a handheld blower and was looking for advice.

Re: leaf blower

I cam't speak specifically for the handheld models, but all Redmax equipment I've used is top notch and commercial quality. I would expect nothing less from their handheld stuff.

The Stihl BG55 is a fine blower for not much money... $150 brand new. They're an obsolete model, but they can be found used. Stihl'l whole BG lineup is good except maybe the one they replaced the BG55 with, but by far the best value was the BG55. Same cc, hp, MPH, and CFM as their top of the line BG86 but for half the price.

Overkill.
I love overkill.

Re: leaf blower

I concur with Steddy...I have the 8500 back pack...I bought that because I was fed up with the hard start on my Stihl...I think the Red Maxx is MUCH better than Stihl...starts easier and seems more solidly built and much stronger....I would expect anything that they make to be of equal quality

I have a Redmax EB7001 backpack blower that I bought new in 2004. It is a great machine. I know what you mean about the Stihl products today. I have some older Stihl chain saws and an older Stihl weed trimmer & they are good machines. I bought a new Stihl weed trimmer about a year ago & I'm not impressed with it. I have some friends that have the newer Stihl saws & I don't think they are built as well as the older one's.
It seems like Sthil has tried to gain sales with the Harry Homeowner, just as John Deere has done with their riding mowers. Not saying they are bad equipment, just not like they used to be. Just my opinion. That is why I'll probably go with the Redmax.

Since Husqvarna owns Redmax, most of Husqvarna's blowers are rebaged Redmax designs. I have a 125B (Redmax HB281) with three years of commercial use on it. Probably the nicest handheld blower I've ever used. Plenty of power and ergonomics are excellent. I'd take it over a Stihl or Echo any day of the week.

Re: leaf blower

I have had nothing but problems with Stihl BG55's. One had a bad carb after 6 months, and the other one lost the crank seal about halfway through the first year. I now own an Echo PB 255LN, and it is awesome! Super easy to start, powerful, and VERY quiet.

Re: leaf blower

OP - What Redmax backpack do you own? I want a backpack and was considering a Redmax. They're not cheap though, but I assume you're getting what you pay for with them.

As for hand-helds.. I've only had the Stihl units and I'll concur on the BG55 being a good bang for your buck. You'll get a workout starting them though, lol. I found out after the fact they just seem to be that way. I'd love to try a Redmax hand held blower.
