I'm a little late joining the thread, but....beautiful machine! Maybe your (awesome) friend felt some empathy for you having to deal with that Grillo, and decided to gift you that mint condition Pro-12 - ha! I have never found the steering brakes to be of value when plowing or blowing snow--typically slower speed jobs. But when using mowing decks, particularly of the 50" variety, the steering brake is in indispensable tool. I don't have a huge yard this machine cuts mowing time by 25-30% . The Grillo has its place. It is far and away the best tiller I have ever used

Every breath I take as a Free man was paid for with the blood of an American Soldier
From Concord and Valley Forge to the sands of Iraq
and mountians of afghanistan American soldiers have
paid the ultimate price For our Freedom.I am ever mindful
and for ever greatful for their sacrifice
My heros have always been American Soldiers
