Dixie Chopper X2002?

Anyone very familiar with the Dixie Chopper mowers? Two weeks ago I bought an x2002 Quad Loop for $100. It’s complete but the engine doesn’t run. It spins. It worked fine all season three years ago and wouldn’t run the next spring. Seller isn’t mechanical so he bought another ZTR.

My Horses: Toro 520xi, 522xi,, plus 520Lxi parts tractor. Two Sears (Noma) 4 wheel steer tractors. Dixie Chopper X2002 project. WTB: Bolens Villa rear steer riding mower. See my Facebook pages for Bolens Villa mowers & Toro 5xi & New Holland equivalent garden tractors.
Wanted to buy Toro 5xi series 79355 48” blade, 52” deck.

Re: Dixie Chopper X2002?

Did you get the Dixie going? If not, I would recommend starting with basics. See if you are getting spark. If not, coils might be bad. You might check the grounding wire on the coils. Remove one and see if it will run. I am assuming it is a Kohler ~25 horse motor. Great motors. I have one on my Dixie Chopper. If you are getting spark, you probably have a fuel delivery problem. Remove the air cleaner cover and shoot some starting fluid or Carb cleaner into the opening for the carb. Try starting again. If nothing, check the compression. If over 90 psi, it should run. Last but not least, the timing could have gotten off. The flywheel has a key to hold the flywheel and crank at the proper timing. This Key could be sheard (usually happens if something is struck by the blades but, can happen other times as well.

Hope this helps. These are nice mowers. Mine (an XW2503) 25hp Kohler Pro and a 60" deck does a nice job and it is around 18 years old, best I can tell.

Re: Dixie Chopper X2002?

No. I unloaded it in the pole barn and moved it around a few times. I live with chronic Lyme, strong depression and my 82 year old mom. Last week I started organizing in the pole barn so I can start doing repairs to my three Rangers. I haven’t tried starting it yet but it sure would be a great mower to mow my storage with vs my Toro 522xi and 52” deck.
