1998 John Deere 455

I am looking at a 1998 455 with 389 hours, been stored inside and looks great. comes with 54" deck, 54" blade, 45" PTO tiller, and 47" snow blower. $8000. My wife thinks i'm crazy for looking at a 15 year old tractor lawn mower. I originally was looking at an x310, but knew I would not be happy with it and was almost ready to pull the trigger on a new x530 with snow blower until I saw the add for the 455. what do you all think of the price on the 455 with attachments?

Re: 1998 John Deere 455

That's a good deal (I'm assuming the attachments are in the same condition and low hours like the tractor); it's certainly a LOT more tractor than an x310 will ever be. You'll love it. Go get it before somebody else does.

That does sound reasonable for everything that comes along. Good luck

Nice deal and an awesome 455. 389 hours is almost showroom condition if it's been taken care of. Good luck with it!

Have you seen this tractor in person yet? Do the seats usually go that bad after only 389 hours? and in your first post you didn't mention it comes with a power flow and bagger system too.

Re: 1998 John Deere 455

Sure looks great and it is a great mower, I got a 455(1997) for myself, I'm guessing the attachments alone are around $5,000 new so your only paying $3,000 for the 455.

Regardless of the usage, the vinyl usually pulls tight and rips after 250 or so hours.

Re: 1998 John Deere 455

Do you suppose that JD deliberately makes their seats to fall apart in just 250 hours? I know I have never seen a descent seat that was over three years old.

Looks very clean! That's a heck of a deal if you did get it. The only thing left to get now is an FEL.

They didn't get far with the wheels.

I took them off to paint the rims.

... and besides, they would have stolen the toolbox instead of using it to jack up the front end

Re: 1998 John Deere 455

Do these baggers really cost $5000? I think he needs some weight on the front end.
