John Deere x540 engine cut out

I recently purchased a used 2010 John Deere x540 garden tractor. The tractor runs great for about 30-45 minutes and then it cuts out. It won't restart for another 10-15 minutes after cutting out.
I used a spark tester after the engine cut out and verified that there is no spark.
I replaced both ignition coils. The tractor now seems to run for a bit longer before cutting out but the issue is still there.
I bypassed the seat switch just to test. Still no spark until the engine cools.
Anyone else run into this?

I had a similar issue with my x530 and it turned out to be the electronic control unit AM141075 which is listed as compatible with the x540 also. If you have ruled out all the other likely sources like carb, spark plugs, fuel filter, fuses, RIO, seat and brake safety switches it might be worth looking into.

I had the same problem with an x540. It was the electronic control unit. JD had a lot of problems with them. The part number changed so maybe they fixed the issue
