X590 PTO engagement question

I just picked up a new x590 and noticed that when engaging the PTO, it's not immediate. I pull the engagement switch and then there is a half second-second delay before the PTO actually engages. It definitely is not immediate. I know that doesn't seem long, but its electronic (isn't it?), I would assume its like trying to run inside a room before the lights go on after hitting the switch? My last machine didn't do that, it was almost immediate. I assumed it was okay because it did that consistently the entire time I mowed, so not like it was sporadic or anything. But, before I ask the dealer about it, I thought I would see if anyone else out there has noticed this or if its just a quirk with the PTO clutch.

I only have one picture . . .

Re: X590 PTO engagement question

Sounds normal to me. 1/2 second is about as close to immediate as you can get. Pull the switch, relay closes, PTO starts to spin.....

Re: X590 PTO engagement question

That is perfectly normal- according to your manual the PTO should be engaged at full throttle. When you engage the PTO the electric clutch ( brakes for blades) must be released and then PTO engages, that is one of the reasons for the slight delay you are experiencing. The electric clutch is what stops blades from turning when you disengage the PTO-- otherwise blades would take quite some time to stop turning

My X585 is like that. Pull the PTO and a second or two and then a nice smooth engagement.
I think you are good.

Re: X590 PTO engagement question

Thanks all! It was one of those things that when doing something and it gives you time to think, well you overthink it.
