Re: transmission question

Literally every gear-driven lawn or garden tractor that I have owned in the past 60 years required you to push in the clutch and come to a stop before changing gears. Granted, with some transmissions if you have just the right "touch" you can sometimes nudge them into the next higher gear while moving if there is no load on the transmission - but you are NOT supposed to do it.

Re: transmission question

You can also view the on-line version of the operator's manual on the john deere web site: OMGX21821_H5

or you can down load it from the big box store (Home cDepot) that sells that model: https://images.homedepot-static.com/...3ca3698e81.pdf

See page 19, 2nd column, Travel forward section.
