Deere 757 zero turn Repower

Neighbor has a 757 that blew head gaskets. Realized they were already helical sleeve fixed once, he redid it with timezerts and it just failed again.
Does anyone know a good Repower option? Anyone know where to find a used block to get him through? Haven’t come up with much on the web.

Did the inserts fail or were the heads not properly torqued? If the block is not reparable Small Engine Warehouse offers a kit to install a Briggs and Stratton 23 hp Vanguard in that mower.

I don’t think I ever heard of a helicoil failing. Maybe he drilled the holes too large. I don’t know if you can buy them in different outer sizes. There are different install lengths though. Look on McMaster.com.

I may be pointing out the obvious, but did you look for a block on eBay?

He used match tolerance bits that came with the sleeves. Also torqued appropriately.

Checked eBay, no dice

i put a predator / harbor freight on a skagg and sold it to a commercial mowing co. they are half the price and the guy that bought the mower claimed he has replaced his honda engines with predators for chippers and tillers with great results. something to consider anyway. they do offer an extended warranty.
