Got a 2000 JD445 witha 40 loader today

I drove 4 hours today to pick up a 2000 JD 445 with a 40 loader on it. It has 500 hours on the clock and runs beautifully. It is a little rough cosmetically but I will do some magic on it and it will look like new. The owner bought it new in 2000 and used it around her farm and horses. It needs both side panels and a new seat. Surprise! It has a 54-inch deck with one broken spindle due to her hitting a big rock. Thank God it was only a 54 and not the iron wonder the 60-inch monster. We had to put the deck on my trailer after we got the tractor on and if it had been that heavy 60, it would have ruined my back. Pictures tomorrow.

Re: Got a 2000 JD445 witha 40 loader today

It's pouring down rain right now so no pictures. One thing I did notice that was different from the 455 with a 40 on it is the speed at which this one moves. Up and down is almost too fast and will take a little getting used to. The curl seems to be normal. One bonus is that since it has always been under roof is that the instrument cluster not only works but is dust free! For some reason the tail lights are missing but there are no dents around the holes that would indicate an impact of some sort. The lady wanted $3750 but because of the cracked panels and bad seat I offered her $3500 which she took. It wasn't the best deal but I felt that it was an opportunity that doesn't come along very often.

I don't know what happened to my first reply with pics but here goes the second attempt. I said showing pictures to this group is like throwing chicken necks to gators! Here are the pictures.

Not to hijack and i'm sure its been asked before but why on some of these loaders do they have those uprights? What is the significance of those?

Oh, and yes sweet looking rig. I'm dying to get a small loader... so much work I could be doing!
