318 Rear PTO

My 318 came with a rear PTO that I have never used. I'm going to take it off and try to sell it. It's a one pulley system, but it has the gearbox. The guy I purchased it from said it used to have a really cool material collection system on it. After doing a little research, sound like these gearboxes are hard to come by.

The gearbox is definitely spinning the rear PTO and doesn't appear to be leaking. I'm not sure if it's compatible with a tiller, but I read some information that leads me to believe they are. Looks like it might be worth north of $500 since they are rare and NLA. What would people on this forum value 2000 RPM rear PTO gearbox?

I'm hoping to use proceeds to buy some AG wheels and or a dual motion front blade. Anyone around near Indiana want to buy or trade for it?

Re: 318 Rear PTO

You'll have to have the complete wiring harness for it too (switch, harness with plugs, bracket for clutch, etc)

Re: 318 Rear PTO

I can remove everything that is connected to the tractor including switch, wires, plugs, shafts, clutch, gearbox, brackets, bolts, etc to make it a complete kit.

My understanding is that the gearbox in NLA while the rest of the parts are still in stock. I've seen some online sales in the 6 to 800 range for these rear PTOs.

I'm going to take it off, list it online and see what happens. Thought there might be some interest around here.

BTW, I like your avatar, so is that approximately where Mid-Michigan is located?

Re: 318 Rear PTO

One other side note is there is a plug that you have to put into your wiring harness when you take off the rear PTO. I believe they are NLA so you might want to check around for that first. I know cause I put a rear PTO on my 322 over a month ago and when I pulled out the plug to put in the wiring harness, my buddy told me to keep it since its really hard to find.

Re: 318 Rear PTO

Everyones advice is on point, here.

I would like to see pics, but Im pretty sure youre describing the pulley drive for the MCS that ran off the 2000rpm gearbox. PC1965 is the catalog number for it * I think*. If so, you could split up the parts and sell the electric clutch and reduction gear box separately from the MCS bracket and pulley, might make for a quicker sale.

Re: 318 Rear PTO

Post up some pictures when you have a chance and I bet you can get it sold through here.

As a side note, these rear PTO's have fallen a good ways in price. Just a few years ago they were brining $1,000 or more. Recently 500-650 seem to be the general trend depending on how complete the set is.

Kris OK has a good point depending on what you have... It might be easier and quicker to split parts up. Pictures wild help with that.

The true test of skill is when you can put something back together and it works... not the dusty half disassembled pile of junk in the corner....
