I need to change the transmission fluid. Does anyone know what to use?

Also, what hydraulic fluid does this tractor use?

It stinks that you had a deal with him and he didn't stick to it...but, congratulations on getting it. I want a tractor with and FEL so bad I can taste it, so I'm very happy that you got yours!

My "honey-do list" is so long it has chapters.

Just got your PM. The manual will call for type F but I run John Deere hygard lo vis which is compatible. I do this in both the hydro and the loader/backhoe. Respond to my PM and I can get you copies of the manual specifics for the capacities and types.

Re: John Deere 400 Purchase? w/loader

That's awesome even with the price adjustment, at triple the original asking price I would consider it a deal.

You couldn't buy either attachment for that price.

Now to find the floor boards or seat pan and you should be set.

Great score!

Anyone know where I might look to find the floorboards/seat pan/fender pan...whatever it's called and what it might cost?

Looking a little further,

https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/...on/pgId/264097

It appears that the Platform is serial number specific per John Deere.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. When I looked it up, it said "Call Dealer." Dealer says it's an obsolete part no longer available. So now I need to look for a donor machine. Or, my co-owner friend says he thinks he can fabricate some floorboards.

Re: John Deere 400 Purchase? w/loader

Google search "used JD parts". There are a couple 'junkyards' that have literally hundreds of tractors laying about, and should be able to get you the parts you need without much trouble.
