How far is he from you? Is it worth a trip over there to just scope it out?

Hard to feel the guy out without having had correspondence with him but at least he took the add down which is reassuring. He may very well have been propositioned with a higher dollar amount he now setup for Saturday and you’re now his contingency on Sunday. Hopefully not but hard to say.

That's great! It sounds like you have a pick up date scheduled. That is a big deal. Sunday will come soon enough. I think we are all still tied up in knots here for you . I can imagine how you feel. I felt the same way when purchasing my Johnson loader.

So, the worm has turned.

I hope it is all legit and you bring home the 400.

I looked into an Audi A6 a few years back for my daughter, it was at one third of book price.

I called the seller, she was going top be deployed and wanted a quick sell.

Said the car was in Kansas and would be shipped to me.

After researching the serial number, it matched the car.

Called DMV, they could not give out any information on a vehicle I did not own, I understood.

The third contact I had was with a male, he said she had been deployed and he was taking care of her sell.

I said that I was not even sure that they had the vehicle in question, Click.

I later looked up Craig's List scams, and it fit perfectly.

My daughter ended up with a BMW 328xi.

I would physically see the 400 before exchanging any funds, better to miss than miss and be out $700.00.

If you use PayPal goods and services the money is protected. If you use PayPal friends and family you are out the cash. I've taken lots of deposits on equipment through PayPal. Typically if you do your due diligence you should not have any problems. sounds like the due diligence has been done in this case and a PayPal deposit or full price through goods and services would be a good way to ensure peace of mind.

I only buy stuff like this in cash in person. Too many scams. This one I’m certain is legit. But he did pull back on the agreement to sell at HIS asking price because of another offer. I think we’ve worked it out. More to come. Definitely one of the screwiest transactions I’ve been involved in.

I had a guy do that to me once. His ad said something like $100 or best offer. When I called he asked what my offer was and I told him I'd give him the full $100... he then said he already had an offer higher than that. I wasn't happy...

Do you know this guy personally?

Seems strange but I suppose he just don't know what price those can bring until he realized all the interest and dialogue it drummed up.

Keep us updated!

I own it! Had to pony up some more cash, but not a ton more. Boy were we surprised when it fired right up after sitting for years and we drove it on the trailer. Hydraulics work. Motor runs smooth as can be. One hydraulic line needs replaced. Rusted floorboards but frame in great shape.

Very glad to see that it worked out! Still kind of shady that he raised his price though IMO. But if you're happy it's all good!

Wow, that is awesome! Congratulations! Even with a price adjustment, it sounds like you still got a pretty screaming deal. Enjoy it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that would like to see more pics. I'm sure there's *something* heavy around that needs to be moved or picked up.

Great deal! I thought you were done for once he relisted it and opened up a bid process.

Like I said in a previous post, I have the same setup with all the original manuals so if you should have any questions or want copies of the literature let me know.
