John Deere 110/210 transaxle swap?

I have a JD 210 and the transmission is out. Will a JD 110 trans swap over? Everything bolts up the same but am having a problem with the shifter. The 210 has a slight bend and shape difference and does not want to align low enough in the shifter guide. I am using the shifter out of the original trans. Checked to make sure trans is in the neutral position but still not fitting in guide right. Appears that the shifter is too high. Guide allows shift rod to slide back and forth in the Reverse and 2nd area but can not get rod low enough to go in the 4-3 position. Also the Reverse and 2nd seems to be actually in 4-3. Not sure whats going on or what I am doing wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have done that transaxle swap twice ,took the 3 bolts out of the shifter housing, swapped the complete shifter to the other transaxle. Everything worked both times. Not sure why yours isn't working.

When the shifter is bolted on trans the lever will not move downward far enough to engage into the 4-3 shift quadrants.

Well they both show as a Peerless 2300 transmission. Are you using same axles or is it a complete swap? You may need to swap axles to get the frame mounting correct as IIRC the frame rests on top of the axles and that may be were the difference is at.

Current Machine JD 322

Re: John Deere 110/210 transaxle swap?

Figured it out after talking to owner. Said when trans went he removed shifter and tried realigning the forks. When he put it back together and fired up the tractor it killed the motor when he let out on the clutch. He did this several times. I inspected the shifter and it is definately bent. I was able to straighten it somewhat and it fits right into place. It is twisted some as well so I need to find another shifter. Thanks Much!
Don't overlook the obvious!!!! LOL
