X370 or X354...or step up to used x500

I have a conundrum of sorts.

I am looking to buy new or used tractor. I have an opportunity to buy either a used X534 or X540 for what appear to be good prices. Both units appear to be flawless.

However, I am also considering a brand new X354 or X370.

With the used tractors, both have about 700 hours. Both will come with a lot of attachments (power blower bag system and snowblower). The prices are in the same ball park as a new X354 with the implements. The 540 is a 2011 and the 534 is a 2014.

I live in Michigan and want to be confident with plowing/blowing snow. All 3 options are more than I need for mowing.

I like the idea of being able to change the transmission fluid, due to the wear that snowblowing will provide.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Should I be concerned about the ages and hours?

Thank you!

Re: X370 or X354...or step up to used x500

I’d be all over that X540—the 540 is a beast of a machine. I am not a 4 wheel steer type guy, and I know there can be “issues” with some implements tires etc. But if you like 4 wheel steer again the X534 is a 500 series tractor. The 500 series is much more tractor than the 354, the K72 tranny , power steering and most importantly for snow blowing power lift is nice option. The diff lock on the 500 series gives you a level of security a 300 series cannot do. Is the snow blower the 44 inch or the 47 inch blower? The 47 inch blower can move a lot of snow and move it quickly and throw it 20/30 feet
The x3xx series lawn tractors will mow just as well ( if not better) than the 500 series, but when it comes to traction, accessories, power, ability to climb hill and inclines the X5xx garden tractors are much more capable

What about the high number of hours? $5000 is my budget, I did not put that in my original post.

I would finance a new X590 or X580 with the attachments. I have a 2011 x530 bought new with everything you want and the total bill was less than $9200, it just tripped 200hrs. Now I know that's more than you want to spend but you'll be getting all new equipment all warrantied the length of the tractor warranty. Drop the 5k on the down payment and finance the remainder with 0% interest for 60-72 months.

Longest you can stretch for an X500 series tractor is 4.9% x 48 months. They only offer the 0x60 for the X700 series at this point. Can also get 0% x 24 months on the X500 series.

That pre owned x540 will be twice the machine the x354 or x370 will be though the new machine will cut better!

Maybe you’re looking at this one, but if not, it would be a good option: https://grandrapids.craigslist.org/g...880705176.html

There’s a couple of options at John Hoeksema JD Dealer in Holland:
2018 X580 78 hrs 24 hp 54” — $6200
2014 X540 285 hrs 24 hp 48” mower/mulched — $4800
Not sure what they might have for attachments though.

My choice might be the Craigslist X540 for all the attachments, but I would search tractor house: https://www.tractorhouse.com/listing...False&CTRY=USA
for an X540 or an X590.

Doesn’t hurt to look around, but good deals will NOT last long. Where are you located?

The Craigslist posting is the one. I went and saw it tonight. I’m going to sleep on it, but believe I am going to buy it. Very clean unit. The heater is a bit much, but can be removed.

No brainer if you are at all handy and can do repairs and maintenance yourself. While nothing beats a brand new toy, that honeymoon wears off. Enjoy the X540

Well if you haven’t used the X540 yet and can’t Monday or Tuesday, it looks like you better plan on very tall grass before the next mow is done with all the rain coming, 7 of the next 9 days. My SIL mowed his Friday and his was really tall. Not sure if he will be able to get his done Monday or Tuesday either.
