JD 318 For SAle - What Do You Think?

A guy I know has this 318 for sale. He is a little unsure on his price point. I wanted to see what you guys think so I can give him some advice! He thinks he is high but I am not so sure.

It is a clean looking machine, but with that many hours and just a mowing deck, no other attachments I believe it to be a bit overpriced...for where I live

+1 : With that many hours you could very easily drop another $400 into the rig or more if you don't do your own work.

I've got a 318 with less hours and when they get that many hours they are like old people, things just wear out and JD parts are not cheap. (and they are not user friendly to work on)

You can do better with less money for a 318 with some shopping.

Re: JD 318 For SAle - What Do You Think?

I'm thinking price is too high also. Hours aren't too bad for 25+ year old machine, but the 318's aren't getting what they used too. I'd jump on it for $1500, think a little at $1600 to 1800, and above that, I'd HAVE to see it, touch it, run it. Anything over $2000, I'd keep looking. Just MY thoughts, Bob

Re: JD 318 For SAle - What Do You Think?

I'd offer $1600 and see if he bites! In PA even that is borderline for a 318 with 1300 + hours now. Seeing them between $1200 and $1500 in the area more and more.

Here is one for $3500 in Wisconsin. Only 140 orig hours.
Price is high, but sounds interesting. No pictures though.

Re: JD 318 For SAle - What Do You Think?

Overpriced by at least $700, imo. At that price, I would expect at least two other attachments, or one with weights and a 3 point hitch.

Re: JD 318 For SAle - What Do You Think?

By the SN#, it's a 1992. I gave $1500 for a 1984 that looked that good and had similar hours, but mine had been partly restored (partial engine rebuild, new deck bearings and repainted). If that one doesn't smoke when running, I'd say $1600 tops.
