Re: John Deere 430 Diesel
If it goes for public sale it'll likely either get shipped to an auction house out of state or get put on eBay.
They did that with two larger tractors he had, when they couldn't find a local buyer. They were sent to a big auction somewhere out of the area. I go to most of the local sales and auctions and the last diesel GT that I saw went for over $2500 and it was rough, not running, and missing a lot of parts. I've seen some real junk go for way too much at auctions. This one looks good enough that'll it bring good money. A lot would depend on whether or not they put a battery in it and show that it runs.
I don't think it'll need anywhere near a grand to get it in shape, even four new tires wouldn't be more than $300, and I've got a set of good rear tires on JD rims already. They came on the same machine, he gave them to me to use on my AC 916 a few years ago. He bought a used set of turf tires for the 430 and didn't want the ag tires. I suspect I could find the missing tail light online, and a battery is only about $40.
I reality, I'd likely just give it a good buffing and some wax, an oil change, a battery from Walmart for $30, and a couple of tubes in the front tires for about $30.
The loader I've got was originally off a JD 420, it was modified to fit that machine but likely came off an old Bolens. I have a cut off saw and a welder so I can make it fit if needed.
