4x5 aftermarket hood and fenders on eBay

My 455’s plastic seems to have taken a beating this past winter and has seen better days, cracks, missing tabs and a hole in the hood. Looking for some new plastic for the 455, and see some aftermarket on eBay by Kuhn Bros USA. I can buy a whole set hood and 2 side panels for the same price as just the OEM hood. I was wondering if anyone here has bought a set and how they compare to factory.

If they’re junk I’d rather just buy OEM parts and cry once, but I have no qualms going 3rd party if they’re decent.

Wondering if there’s any real world reviews here. Thanks!

Forrest

Im not sure how they could get much worse than the John Deere parts they replace. Do they have a warranty?

And you still need the screens for those as well......

Would love to be able to lay hands on them, and see if they are any better than the stock fellers.

Kumar Bros. Kubota dealer? Google Kumar Bros NJ and read Google reviews on Google maps. Some good some negative. Also reviews on Amazon.

Also Flipmfg.com sells same kit, seems sold out for now.

1 Kumar review complaint blemishes, returned, replacement had blemishes as well. Kumar has decals. Flip no decals. Black trim on hood not separate. Inspectorudy bought Flip and was satisfied with quality.

Re: 4x5 aftermarket hood and fenders on eBay

I guess my question would be are the new factory replacement panels made of the same material the original panels were?

We established a while back that Deere has changed the formula at least once, and the newer x series don't appear to have the same problems that the 4x5 tractors had with cracking. This was a thread a while back and it was confirmed to be a different material.

If we could find out if the new panels were made from the new material, I think id spend the coin on factory panels.

The literature below the pictures indicates they are JD parts, it says Brand: John Deere, and the service label that goes inside the hood has a JD part number on it. Are those lumps and bumps on the side panels the same as on your originals? I haven't see a 455 without the side screens.

I always though that if my hood ever cracks or otherwise needs replacement, I'd draw up some plans and have a sheet metal one made, with more of a retro look to it.

Any idea what year that change took place? My tractor is supposedly a 2000..... and the panels/hood are just cheap plastic, that is now amazingly brittle. Engine Vibrations will crack/break 'em.

Re: 4x5 aftermarket hood and fenders on eBay

I have a piece missing out of the front edge of mine, can't see it from the seat though!

I would be interested to know if the plastic was updated also.

I recall reading on here about the plastic being better in the newer JD's but don't recall reading any changes in the 4X5's.

Re: 4x5 aftermarket hood and fenders on eBay

I bought side panels from them 2 years ago on eBay, re-used my old screens, near as I could tell they were genuine JD parts. No issues with fitment, no issues with cracks or breaks so far in 2 years.

Thanks everyone for there input, and profound for your real world experience.. Think I’m going to order a set, with the 6 month warranty I figure it’s worth a shot.

Thats a very sweet grill guard! Unfortunately in the summer I have suitcase weights hanging off the front bumper, and in the winter I have the QH for the snowblower. Good luck with the sale!!!
