front dethatcher options for x590

Just curious if anyone has come across good front mounted dethatcher options other than the JD unit? A bonus would be something that could use the same mount as the JD 47" blower if that's even possible.
I picked up a x590 w/ 47" blower and 54" deck right before winter hit, which turned out to be the right winter to buy because this winter in Fargo, ND sucked Blower worked great, but it's finally time to transition to yard work from driveway work.
If the JD dethatcher is the top choice, so be it. Just thought I'd check for others. I'm not too optimistic as my own searching isn't really coming up with anything compelling.
thanks!

Re: front dethatcher options for x590

A guy on ebay makes these for a X700 series front hitches............

https://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-De-T...ty!08088!US!-1

A little pricey though, I'm tempted to buy one, but just don't think it's worth it for as much time as I would use one......Might be best to to co own it with 2 or 3 people and just send it to each other every spring.

Going like hot cakes though, this guy sold 8 in the last 24 hours......

I have the front dethatcher too that I used on my JD345, pretty sure that bracket would atttach right up to it.

John Deere X495

Front Hitch w/ 54" Snowblade
Buford Bucket
Click N'Go Bracket
Rear Weight Bar
6 Suit Case Weights

Cast Iron Rear Wheel Weights

JD 345 SOLD
JD GX325 SOLD
JD265 SOLD
JD 160SOLD

Re: front dethatcher options for x590

hmm, interesting. Price wise, it's less than the JD mount kit. His add states it is for the "4x5" series as well (meaning x400 series like x425), however I think the X5 series front end is different. I think the front mount for blowers on x5 and x7 are different. I'm new to all this though, so I could be very wrong I'll have to contact the person.
It's cool to see though that someone with some engineering skills designed something that makes a lot of sense.
My unit had the blower on when delivered since we were on the verge of snow and I haven't taken my blower off yet, so maybe there is a good reason that mounting system can't be used for a front thatcher. Sure would be nice though.
thanks for the link!

Re: front dethatcher options for x590

His listing lists the size of the hitch the bracket will fit, what does yours measure?

" bracket fits 16-3/8" wide Quick Hitch"

I'm guessing yours is narrower.....

The 4x5's he is referring to are the X465, X475, X485 and X495, X575, X585 and X595..........which the hitch is like the X700 series.

Re: front dethatcher options for x590

I contacted the seller of the x7 series mount and he does make one for the x5 series. I guess there is a message thread here on it, but I didn't find it in my searches, so here it is: https://www.mytractorforum.com/12-jo...achment-2.html
Looks pretty slick, but the message thread answered a question I was thinking about and that was can the dethatcher and mower deck be lifted with the hydraulics at the same time, and I guess it can't be used like that. It's one or the other, and I want to dethatch and mow at same time, and possibly with a pull behind sweeper in some cases.

I have a older pull behind Thatcher. Once I dig it out of storage I plan of fabbing something up to mount it on my quick hitch on my x475

Re: front dethatcher options for x590

You will have to either rig up an electric actuator or modify the hydraulic system on your X590 to lift the front dethatcher and the mower deck at the same time. Easiest option would be the electric actuator route but the lift time will be painfully slow. On my larger X485 I have modified the John Deere unit to work just like you want it to work. The John Deere unit is a fine unit. Saying that and owning a quick hitch for the snowthrower/blade/etc. I would never use the linked device for the Deere dethatcher and float function on the quick hitch. Fluid movement is way more resistance going over uneven ground than the mechanical float design of the manual lift.

I know everyone's situation is different, but it only takes me about 5 minutes to swap the deck for the hitch and dethatcher, dethatch the yard, and then swap back. I understand some don't like to remove the deck as it can be cumbersome, etc., but that is how I do it. That route was easier for me to do, as I already have the front hitch and use a blade and snowblower at times. Adding another actuator, etc didn't fit my priorities. My $0.02.

Re: front dethatcher options for x590

I have the setup found on eBay. I just assembled it a few weeks ago. I can attest to the build quality as top notch. It is very well made. I also bought the hitch receiver attachment he makes. It too is very well made. I doubt the expense is warranted for the frequency of use. However I am really happy with them and I was concerned he may not make them one day and I will have the tractor for many years.

The pivot point of the front hitch does make getting the unit adjusted a little difficult. I like the wheels to hold the front tines just off the ground while having the rear tines about 1/2" higher. The rears tend to dig in a little deeper than desired otherwise.
