Carb Floats aren't adjusted right - or they are sticking - or the float needle isn't seating against the seat.

What era 111? Gravity fed fuel tank under the hood or is tank under the seat and uses a pump?

gravity fed under the hood. i already put a shutoff valve but i have to be quick and it still drains the carb into the crankcase.

Re: john deere 111carb floods

Understand - don't want gas in the engine's crankcase oil.
I/we have redone the carburetor in our 1980 JD 111 3-4 times. Gave up.
Installed a shut off valve on the fuel line between the gravity fed fuel tank & carb.
Done with work - turn off fuel flow & let engine run at idle 'till the carb's outta gas
& the engine stops running. Then remember to turn start key to off.
Next time, remember to turn on the fuel flow when wanting to restart the engine.
Been working just fine this way for us for over 17 yrs. now.

that sounds easier than putting in a new needle and seat. that and i am not sure of the 13.00 carb from e bay.

"for now" -- read/review a prior post. Is yours, so do as you wish.

I just purchased one of these carbs and it works great. The original carb was cleaned and rebuilt but never worked. The China carb did the job.
