Re: k62 very touchy, I need advice
The GT245 is a great tractor and they seem to last well. They have the 23-inch rear tires and the K71 tranny. The deck is hand raised by a lever and it is manual steering. It weighs over 700 pounds with a rider so it will handle rough going. I just bought a GX255 with 80 hours so they are out there. Look at the front tires to see if they are really worn because at 200 hours they shouldn't be. Also, check the foot pedals for the same thing. No gauges just lights so that is a money saver. At 200 hours the deck should be in great shape with very few dents or worn spots. That being said check where the gauge wheels attach to the deck for cracks. They are pretty common and if you can weld they are no big deal but they might get you a few dollars knocked off. Find out when and for how long the last time it ran was. A 14-year old tractor not being used can develop some carb problems from varnish and deteriorating rubber fuel hose. If you can get it for the high teens, $1600 to $1800 you have a great deal.
I bought the GT 245. Had 186 hours. It had been in the same family since originally purchased in fall of 2005. Thanks for your input and info about it.
