Here’s one I’ve owned for a while. Kinda up in the air how to restore it. Has the wrong engine. Every thing under the hood is gone. Thinking I may need a parts tractor. It was barn kept so it’s in pretty good shape
Mike, can you share better photos of how that engine was shoehorned in there? Model of the engine, etc. Is it running fine?
Looks like the tractor is in good shape. If you do not want to fully restored, and it is running fine, what about building a matching hood support for the right side? To match that one replaced for the engine... just to have symmetry... and paint those JD Green. Would make it look a lot better...
This might take awhile.

The PO got it this far, it has since been sitting in a garage for many years. He sand blasted the chassis then painted it with a brush, it looks very pitted but was preserved quite well, I cleaned up all the rough edges with a 4" grinder today. When the weather gets warmer I'll re-blast it then fill the pits with All-Metal. The engine looks good also blasted and painted, the cylinder has been honed, new rings and a valve job, the transaxle has had been apart, painted and shows new bearings and seals. Everything else needs lots of love, all linkage parts were very rusty, I've bead blasted them and I'm replacing the parts that were too far gone. The rear hitch plate is missing as well as the axle hubs, steering column, starter/gen along with a dozen other small items. My Shopping list keeps growing. The flywheel housing is toast and the flywheel needs some repair, one broken fin where the starter pulley attaches. The throttle and choke cables are beyond help, Gas tank is good, steering wheel is rough, wheels are good tires not so much. Seat, dash and grille are restorable. The hood has some cracks but not bad, I managed to free up the Varidrive middle Sheave, then taped off the bearing surface and bead blasted it and all the linkage parts. The Varidrive bearings are a tad noisy as are the mule drive and trans idler, the front axle looks mint and is very tight. The PTO Clutch mechanism is extremely rusted, I'll worry about that when I have a need for the PTO. Ill be starting paint work when the weather allows but with cold temps and winter setting in...It's Gonna be awhile
I don't want to whore this thread and you all have seen projects so I won't post here again till it's together
I bought this off the original owner, Who still had the Bill of Sale for it and the attachments he bought with it. He said that day I went to buy it, He had hoped his grand kids would want it, But all they cared about was that dern old phone, He said.. I've had it now almost 13 years. Runs and mows as good today as it did new for him. He said last few years he had rode it in the local parades . (horn & Bird) Bill of sale was made on 12/05/64 tractor was $550.00 38 in. mower was $100.00 Blade was $50.00 tire chains $15.00 rear weights $20.00 light set $15.00 for total of $750.00 He said he got the garden cart little later and give $35.00 for it. And the rear hitch was around the 25-30 best I can remember.
This is a JD60 I gave my son for Christmas a couple years ago when he was 5. I had to fab up a brake extension and install an extra thick seat back. It’s repowered but I have the original motor torn apart in milk crates. Eventually I’ll get that put together and put back in it.
Welcome to MTF! Very nice 110. I like the dealer sticker and wheel covers too. And even on your 80! That's the first time I've seen wheel covers on an 80.
This is an old machine sitting at the place where I keep cows. The lady who owns the property is trying to get rid of it. If anyone is interested, let me know. We’re in SW Florida. Thanks
