Re: JD. Forum Help, How/With What..

I have found a lot of answers to questions by searching history and reading problems others are having. Always a good source for information and sometimes a laugh or two.

Thanks All.

JD 318 with 50" deck and MCS running on original 18 Horse Onan.
JD STX 38 black deck (Free but engine trouble., fixed for one year, and engine trouble again, maybe that is why it came with 2 engines)

JD 111 Brought back to life and sold to a young man wanting to mow lawns for some extra money.
Craftsman with 42" deck powered by a 25 horse Brigs (Glad to be rid of it)

JD. Forum Help, How/With What..

I'm a newer member here and with it I have a lot of questions, even more when I decided to tear down my new-to-me JD 180. Missing parts, parts not where they should be, etc etc. the community here has been great and helped me along. So thankful.

I have on many occasions inspected machines for out of state buyers and gave a little more insight as to condition high priced items the seller would try to otherwise hide or not disclose. I delivered a machine awhile back as it happened to be ~20mi from where we were staying.

Tony, I'd add "Repair and Restoration School" to your list. I've had countless questions I had already asked and answered by other folks.

Re: JD. Forum Help, How/With What..

I asked about a leaf pick up system, couldn't believe the help and suggestions..went on for several days. Ended up with a Cyclone Rake, pricey but that's why I asked for opinions. By the way, I wouldn't trade that machine for anything. Leaves are starting now...but it picks up my clippings all year. Just fantastic. Thanks to all on this site..super great!

There are things on this forum you would never know about, too many to mention, but it makes you a better buyer, better repairman ( able to fix things you thought you couldn't), more knowledgable when you are getting repairs from dealers. Common faults of models you thought were just on yours.

Re: JD. Forum Help, How/With What..

IDK where to start. I guess I'll start with the vast amount of knowledge I've gained from you guys about John Deere LT's and GT's over the last 5 or 6 years of me reading this site and not to mention the amount of knowledge I've gained by being a member. The most notable in my mind has been the help with my 332 I can't thank you guys enough. Not to mention I have a significantly greater understanding of how these little diesel's work thanks to you guys than when I joined. One member I'd like to thank in particular is @nick4030 Nick you have been a huge help with me and my 332 and sorting out all the issues I've had with it. Plus I have a huge respect for your knowledge on these little tractors and diesel engines and hope I'll get to your level one day.

@mrbeef Kyle it may not seem like it but I do have a very deep respect for you and your level of knowledge on these machines. Your posts are some of the most informative posts on this forum and I can firmly say I've learned a crap ton from them about these machines and mechanics in general not to mention the history of these machines.

@littletractorguy Tyson I have learned a ton about RF's from reading your posts and I've learned even more about my 165 than I already knew. But your knowledge on the RF's blows my mind I wish I could have just a fraction of it.

@Mike X485 Mike I know you and I don't generally see eye to eye but I want to thank you for keeping my teenage self in check on here. The rest of the MTF Staff I want to thank you guys for keeping this from the most friendly place on the internet.

And to all of my friends @Ericjr16 @BigMitch @nick4030 and others. Thanks for being my friends guys and for keeping me in the hobby and on the forum when I have had some rough times and all of the info and knowledge you guys have shared with me.

332; In a prior post you Indicated A possible Starting/Glow plug Solenoid Weakening. I replaced 2 of them. (the one Down on the Lower Left side of Engine Bulkhead) What I did To test mine. I timed it For the Light to go out. Then I hooked the glow plugs direct to the battery . Timed it again. . It took longer For the Light to go out Going trough the Starting relay. The only thing is that thing is the size of a Flasher Unit. But it Cleans out your wallet ;;
Enjoy

How did I forget myself? I haven't done anything besides be an argumentative jerk compared to the people I mentioned.

Thanks Tony! I'll look into it when I get time after the show but I think I may have solved my issue.
