Cat 0 Weldable Top Link Socket "HELP"

I'm not sure the best place to put this so I figured this would be a good place to start.

One of the ball sockets on the top link to my 3 point hitch is damaged and not working correctly. I tried pb blaster, heating it with a torch, beating the snot out of it and I just flat out gave up on being able to free it up and ended up Cutting it off with a zip wheel on the angle grinder.

Does any one know where to get a weldable Cat 0 ball socket that matches the one's Deere used? Maybe Deere sells them? I have looked on line and am not finding anything that looks like the original with out paying almost as much as a complete manually adjustable Cat 0 top link assembly.

The Cheapest I could find is this one that looks like the original but it's really hard to tell from pictures. It's not exactly cheap either considering the whole top link can be had for about twice as much.

The price for this one is more like what I think is a fair price when I consider free shipping but it looks like cheap Chinese quality and craftsmanship.

I can't see anything in either of your links but now days it's hard to find/buy stuff made in USA for everything. If it looks close to working and it uses the same pin then it would be better then a frozen one.

You'd probably be surprised at how many parts the are on a new John Deere piece of equipment isn't made in USA.

Re: Cat 0 Weldable Top Link Socket "HELP"

Links are a dud.
A CAT 0 ball will cost you 'bout $20, a complete CAT 0 top link is going to be $40, for $20 in the difference I wouldn't even be bothered welding a ball on, I'd get a new link, Just my 2 cents worth.......Mike

Re: Cat 0 Weldable Top Link Socket "HELP"

Oh sorry for the dead links. Here is the ebay link

https://www.ebay.com/p/Top-Link-Ball...6444001&chn=ps

Here is the Amazon link

https://www.amazon.com/RanchEx-10203...55873325&psc=1

I know I could buy a Top link for about $30.00 or so shipped from farm and fleet but wheres the fun in buying when I can build and take pride in repairing it my self for less than the cost of new and the quality will be better as well as it will still be practically OEM once painted up the idea is to not be able to see that it has been repaired.

I'm getting close to finding a good solution.

I will probably be welding up some steering parts soon as well so I'm getting a parts list going.

The whole Cat-0 top link is $10-$14 locally for me, or about the same as buying a single replacement end. I can't imagine it would be too much more out on the west coast.

Re: Cat 0 Weldable Top Link Socket "HELP"

Finding one locally is the main issue. I'll try to find one at the local ag hardware store today. I called 4 places already that should have it but don't. J. Millano, Discount Ag, The Farmers Blacksmith & J.M Equipement. None said they had it. I thought I saw some in J. Millano's a while back so I'm going to go in person just to make sure.

Danuser got back to me and said the .62 hole would be too small for the 5/8" pin. :/ It was a woman that got back to me saying she did not think it would work. She did not try it as far as I can tell. I'm going to follow up with her. It'll be nice to find a good quality cost effective source in case I want to build something else with these.

I found a ball joint locally at J Millano as I suspected for less than $11.00 OTD despite being told over the phone that they don't carry them and they have a whole top link assembly for $26 and some change. So I purchased the $9.80 + tax ball joint then welded it up so I can start using it soon. Not able to post pics from my phone for some reason otherwise I post a few pics.

Danuser got back to me a second time and was able to confirm those ball joints are in fact designed to be used for a 5/8" pin. The first reply I got from them a Lady told me she did not think they would work. So I replied asking her to verify with some one that can test fit a 5/8" pin and this time a Gentleman replied and stated that in fact those are designed to be used with a 5/8" pin.

Here are some pictures of the fabrication and end result as well as how bad the original weld looks and how crooked the ball joint was fit up :/
