OK here is one that you won't see many of anymore. It is a 1959 Peterborough Avenger, a 16' cold molded mahogany plywood runabout. The trailer is a 1959 Tee Nee. The engine is not original but a 1966 Merc 500. The boat and trailer were restored last year but the motor remains untouched. We use it regularly for water skiing and tubing.
Even though she is undergoing open heart surgery right now, as seen in this thread, I hope to have her back up and running in the next few days, then a few days of waxing and cleaning off to the marina.
Sold my boat a few weeks ago, just didn't use it enough anymore! 6' X 15' "Sea Rider" by Godfrey. I bought it new & set it up myself for fishing small (250 acre & less) lakes. Started out using an 8HP Evinrude, later went to 54# (12V) trolling motor on the front & 82# (24V) troller on the back, both operable from the rear seat.
I towed it with my 1500 Ram Rumblebee and it pulled it.. but hills were rough.... Launching was a 2 person job. When my Dad passed away I just couldn't handle it by myself that's why I sold it.
Friends don't understand how complicated it is, dealing with 7000lbs of hull.
Hmm... It didnt show my pic in the first post, here it is again....
2008 Nitro Z7 w/ merc 150 (63mph on GPS), 70lb motor guide brute, dual lowrance HDS 5 Sonar units.
I have more fun, and use my 12' aluminum john boat more than I use my 19' bass boat. Its so easy to take it out of the back of the truck and throw it in the water as aposed to launching the big one by myself. I like the little ones
Geez I forgot to post my "Dinghy" that I bought for the Vista.. Wanna hear a painful lesson?
I picked up this Intex Mariner for around $350.00 new, added a nearly new 30LB Thrust Endura trolling motor with a motor bracket. The plan was to use this as a dinghy for the 248 Vista to get back and forth to shore. It was rated for for people or 750lbs. So I'm all excited, I didn't have a Davit system yet for the 248 so I "rigged" it to the swim platform (see photo below). First time I take the 248 out, with the dingy on the platform as I turn away from the dock, one of the dock cleats catches on the dinghy and ripped it to shreds... Used it once! (launched it out of the back of the truck to see how it performed) talk about almost crying... My dad just laughed at me and said "I told you that was a bad idea" LOL..
yeah man we got it to 90 on GPS and 78.9 in a speed trial, but that was with a 6 ft 5 17 stone friend !! , the engine is far to heavy for the boat , gonna get a 280hp merc that is a third of the weight put on.
I've always wanted to give one of those IC's a try. Looks like a lot of fun.
Lots of nice boats here. Marlboro, that Klepper is pretty sweet! Bosox, I like your runabout -- reminds me of one we had growing up -- about the same vintage as yours. Ours was an early '70s Chrysler.
I have not been around for some time . I have been working on some thing from over the winter but I picked this up just this week . It is a 1949 15ft Chris Craft with a 1969 Mercury 65 hp . on the back . I had a 93 Jazz jet that I gave for it . I was happy to see to leave .
I have the roof rear panel to enclose it . She is ******* the roof side panels but that is mostly it . I do like how the seats flatten out for beds . That would be nice for night fishing .
Here is mine. She's a 1968 Traveler, Saturn 18'. Funny the picture doesn't do her justice, she looks pretty good. In person, not so much. It's a fish boat that we've started tubing with. 90hp Tohatsu outboard on the transom. I take my neices, nephews and my oldest daughter out and bounce them around on the local lakes or ponds. I like to fish Cape Cod Bay and Buzzards Bay mostly but have done a little fresh water fishing with it. Anyhow, here's the picture. :trink39:
