Re: Best Oil to use in a Yamaha powered 5700 generator
Personally i use synthetic in everything. Some of my little 2 cycle hand held equipment is 30 years old and going strong. My Scag mower was purchased new in 2006 and has always used synthetic, and no problems, probably a better example than my big Honda eb11000 generator which probably had 12-15 hours for it's longest run. No matter how long i run it, the oil is always changed after each run, except for a short run to ensure that it will start and to put a small load on the generator to ensure output, even then i change oil about every two years. It's pushing 18-20 years old and no problems, looks like new.
Whatever you use and i would recommend synthetic, as it is supposed to be more heat stable, use the weight the engine mfr recommends and the correct or higher api rating.
