Hey guys,
as you can see, I haven't been on My Tractor Forum or My Mower Forum lately. Reason being is because I'm trying to get my 1969 skidoo olympic snowmobile restored before winter. My lawnboy 10600 project is still not done either! I have located a proper aluminum mounting plate and muffler for $10, but my father has been too busy the past month and I can't get a ride to pick it up. My other lawnboy's (22261,7260G) are still up and running. The 22261 a wheel adjustment lock bolt & nut so it has been cutting crooked the past few weeks. I also became a member of the Antique and Classic Snowmobile Club of Canada last month so I have been spending alot of time on the forum getting help to restore my old snowmobile. So thats just a quick update for y'all. I have kept in touch with Croc this whole time, just in case you thought I died Anyways, until next time...

Oh man. 3 years ago I had a 1971 Olympic. Stripped the drive cogs moving it in the grass (old plastic got brittle.) Yellow with pop up light and chrome bumpers, yellow windshield right?
Bought a set of black (instead of white) NOS front cogs off another model of ski doo on ebay and they worked great, just had to drill all those spot welds out or something, just remember a lot of bolts to put the wheel halves back together. Was going to drive it on the first real snow we had that winter and follow my wife around the yard on my other little John Deere Spitfire...it had a sticky or worn recoil and you had to yank it with both hands to get it to catch the flywheel. To make a long story short, didn't notice throttle was frozen wide open. Got off and yanked the rope, it started right up and screamed across the yard and plowed into a tree. Broke the body up bad. Even broke the rear body panels. I parted it out on ebay...nearly got my money back. |
