At the moment, it's still sitting on my trailer along with the other one. I haven't really had a chance to take a good look at it. Right now, I'm up to my *** in alligators so I won't be tearing into to it right away. However, it has now jumped the queue and become first in line for repair. When I get it sorted out, I'll send you an update.

Cool... sounds like we had a good outcome here, and everyone is happy.

Looks like a nice solid tractor CGT I bet you have her up and runing soon. I too would love to hear what the probelm turned out to be.

Happy...........

Well ........... maybe.....

Lou got less than he wanted for the tractor.

I paid more than what I wanted to for the tractor.

Lou got rid of a problem tractor and his "ear-ache" problem.

I took a risk on this non-runner but a calculated one.

Probably the happiest person is Lou's wife, in all of this.

If it turns out to be something not too expensive to fix, then maybe Lou will end up but he will be able to tell his wife "I told you so."

Thats SOOOOO true!!!! My experance is that any "I told you so's" just end up being turned back around to you anyways.

Im pretty lucky. My wife is fine as long as I A) dont spend money on it and B) I dont park it in the drive, or the garage.

LOL!!!!

Well the garage is mostly filled with my 72LTD convertible, and her 70 Mustang, and she kinda likes a foot path to the door.

And the drive is new pavement... so no working on that!!!

Caseguy, this is pretty much dead on....

As everyone said on here ....worst case scenerio (new motor) would still get you a long life machine (in very nice condition). However, I still hope its something simple and fixable .....so I can tell her "I told you so"

If you have a contact on how to fix the gear issue, please let me know.
The best advise I could give you, would be to give the info to your repair shop. If they are not familiar with it, they may be able to research it.

What I was able to learn was that a "plug" or opening was Opened where a tool of some type was inserted and moved what ever was locking the unit. Knowing "what and where" is the key!

Best of luck!

Can you spell D I V O R C E ?

Actually, there is no perfect answer as she's still in my wallet, and won't go away.

Lou,
I visited CGT on Thursday to pick up a mower deck I purchased from him - more on that in another thread.
Anyway when I pulled in a few moments after ten, he already had the ingy off his trailer, and I helped him lower the "demonstrator" so he could roll that off.

I was going to tell you he had it running, but that would have been cruel. After seeing his passion close up and getting his knowledge without the interference of keyboard I can tell you that it probably won't take him long.

Sorry you had to part with it, but I hope the simplicity works out.

First off, that's "Demonstrator" with a capital "D", not a small d.

Secondly, I'm preparing an invoice for the time spent answering all of your questions.

Thirdly, there is still much to do before the new shop is finished so I can get at Lou's EX and there is one other tractor that is ahead of it. Yesterday, I re-arranged things in the storage trailer and both tractors are residing on the mezzanine. As it stands now, I am totally full. My greatest fear is running across more deals that I just can't refuse.

CGT, I cant wait to find out what the problem was and hope it's a simple fix. The sale has already occured and my beloved 3012 has found her new home. If you can get her back up and running with little expense, I would not at all be upset. If you recall, I still have the "I told you so" card to play with the wife. Honestly, I'm more thankful that she found her way to someone so passionate about Case/Ingersoll machines.

BTW, that "D"emo was a nice looking tractor. I saw it on the bed of the trailer deck that was picking up my old 3012. What year was it? What are your plans for that machine? Will she get a complete makeover or are you just planning on installing a motor? I also noticed what appeared to be a Kohler of some sort on the trailer as well. Is that whats going in the Demo?

By the way, I had to insert this final picture of my son Alex (almost 3) sitting on the old 3012. It was taken just a couple of days before she was sold. Everyday (and multiple times a day) Alex asks ...."daddy ...wheres the tractor?" I tell him that it went Bye Bye ...but that we will have another soon. Its such a cute picture, I think I will have it printed and framed. He'll love it!

I could not go outside and mow without him wanting to sit on my lap the entire time. He and his twin sister would take turns on daddy's lap.

Please give my apologies to Mr. DEMONSTRATOR!

No problem, just send it to the address you have on file.

Really, after seeing your set up, I am recommending that you move one of the other trailers in beside the two - and have a second storage trailer. More room for irresistible deals. Set it up with your shop sandwiched between the two storage trailers, makes a nice big wind break and also means that each storage unit is the same distance from the shop.

I will say it again, thank you, it was a great visit and really awesome to see your collection first hand. **** that bug.
