My dealer has a new 24 row sitting on his lot right now and I thought it was
big. With $4/bushel corn and $200/bag seed corn I don't see how they justify
buying these things. The base price on a planter like that is around $150K.

I take it thats a 36 row?I only have a 12 row and my boss has a 24 row.It is amazing where things are headed.Im sure that is Green Star equipped ''auto steer''?Im also sure he probably farms 5000 acres or more.

The sad part about seeing big planters like that.Is it shows he farms to much.Im sure he is a nice guy.But its just a shame that big farmers just keep getting bigger and more and more little operations go under. When a farm comes up for rent its a shame the smaller operator like my self is not given the chance to expand a little. They alway seem to loose out to the big operators.Luckily 80% of my small operation is family owned.Because the Nice guys with big monster equipment like this are always scouting around to get rented ground taken away from the little guy.

With fields in excess of 4 miles long this saves big money in the long run. In the mid west big fields are the norm.

The longest I have seen in Illinois are 1 mile long we have sections and a section is a mile sqaure. There is always a road every mile.It might be a dirt road but a road just the same.Might be different far southern state? As far as I know Iowa is this way and Indiana.South Dakota and Wheat country states have long runs but not that much corn to plant.

I have seen a lot of big equipment here in southern mich but nothing like that.
Saw a big JD a couple of weeks ago pulling 3 mold board plows.

Go to Deere.com, click Agriculture, then planting, then Planting & Seeding,
then DB Series Planters, then DB88 48R22, then Build Your Own, Base price
$155K says it does not include Bauer Frame Pricing, I have no idea how much that is.
