Default Ford Explorer Gem Module

Hello, I have a 1995 Ford Explorer. I will always keep it as it has 200,000 miles on it and has been absolutely bulletproof. And it's still in very good shape. Anyway had it's first issue. In order: the abs light came on, the cruise quit, the interior lights would stay on a very long time after opening a door, then the all wheel drive quit, along with the hot/cold control on the heater. Lastly the abs switch on the master cylinder caught fire (this was a recall on my year explorer recently, but Ford wouldn't do anything for me as my serial number was not included in the recall)
Dealer replaced everything that burnt around the master cylinder and then the cruise, all wheel drive and heater started working again. been good all winter. But they couldn't get the abs light off. They said all these problems are because of the Gem module? (not the brakes of course, but funny the other stuff started working again). Anyway a new Gem is over $500.00 here in Soviet Canukistan and they said they are getting hard to get, so they told me to locate one from the wreckers for cheap and they could test it. I found two out of the same year Explorer except they were both four doors (mines a two door Sport). The part numbers are different. The dealer said they will not work, they have to be exact. Is this true? They are all 95's.
Mine is #FT7Z14B205EA. The ones I found are #F57B-14B205-CH.

Yes I belive the two and 4 doors would be diferent. You would need one for a two door with the same options.

Sometimes these can be saved if you dry them out. Normaly they fail becouse of windsheld leaks getting them wet.

the hot/cold is a blend door acatuar motor on the heater duct, our exp is doing the same thing.they are like 50 us bucks. exp's have areal problem with this happening.

Thanks guys. With all the good info on here, I thought somebody would know something about this. I wanted to check, as my dealer has been good to me at times, but have been caught in lies and have screwed me over a few times. They did tell me about them getting wet. I've never noticed any leaks, but the windshield has been replaced, so it may be possible. Smithrngr; that could have been happening also, as that actuator and the all wheel drive are on the same fuse. So it may have been why the fuse kept popping. But I did not know they had problems with them, so thanks. I just want to try and pinpoint the problem, because it would sure suck if I spend $500+ for a new GEM and it is not the problem. The dealer had it narrowed down to either the GEM, the heat control actuator, or a short in wiring to either the heater or the all wheel drive. And I can imagine the bill for them to trial and error everything. They did say the Gem is why they can't erase the abs code though? I'm just going to remove the light from the dash, as the brakes work better now, than they did when it was new! I never did like the abs.
Like I said, it's been a good truck but I have to decide where to draw the line on repair costs. It's in good shape now, but how much longer can it go with 200,000 miles on it? Everyone has always told me the 4.0 V6 and auto trans in these trucks weren't know for longevity.....but it's gone this far?
