Sorry all, made a few posts before it occured to me to introduce myself.
I came upon my '79 Case 224 by accident. My grandfather bought the tractor from a local dealership in '82. He had it for, well, 20+ years. Well into his 70's, he stuggled to control it, ran over and mulched all manner of lead cords, lawn and garden lights and decorations, shrubs, small children, ect.. He also always wanted a "Shiny new John Deere." My father decided to buy him one before we lost him, so he picked him up a Depot Deere as a holiday present. My Grandfather demanded that he take the tractor, either to be used or sold to absorb the cost of the Deere. It sat in the shed among the several other tractors he had at the time, only getting used when I mowed the lawn.. I liked it, he found it too annoying to control. So, when I bought my house, I took it with me. My father came across a deal on a Husqvarna tractor (2042) with a plow, cab, chains, weights, ect... He bought it for me as a birthday gift. (Crafts-a-varna + plow = futility) It now sits in the shed, gathering dust, because the more I used, and read about, this old Case, the more I respected it. I have a fondness for random old Iron, and this old girl just struck a chord. Not to mention the sentimental value. I got the idea from this forum, among others, that a snowcaster might be a heck of an idea, so I started hunting for one. I ended up coming across one needing a full rebuild and re-assembly for $50 locally. I called, it was sold... A few days later, got another call from another guy, that worked with the original seller. He wanted to get rid of one, in perfect working condition, with fresh bearings and belt, and sold it to me for the same $50! I assumed that this would work just about as well as most other tractor mount 2 stage blowers I've had experience with, only, worse, due to the single stage.. I justified not pickling this tractor for the winter by telling the woman, family and friends that it might come in handy once in a while if we have a light winter, it'll be nice to knock an inch or so of powder out a little quicker out of my 8+ car driveway. Little did I know this thing will willingly and happily chew through a brick wall if you match the forward speed to the PSI of the mortar... So, here I sit, not having used my Simplicity walk-behind all winter, loving this damn thing, and confusing the Hell out of the neighbors at every step. They just stop and stare. Older folks driving down the road nearly take a ditch rubbernecking trying to figure out just what on earth that big orange thing is. I get to drive around, bouncing on tire chains, laughing uncontrollably... Yep, I'm addicted... |

Welcome aboard. All manner of good info and resources here. Like MU says, pictures are in high demand! But be careful, it sounds like you are only in the beginning stages of this fever ...

Welcome to the Case of the addicted! You will find much "work to be done!"
And love every minute of it! Do you see these types of responses from "new" members of other groups? That may be a subjective question, I suppose. One thing that I can tell you for sure, very few owners of a Case that performs as expected ever go back to something else! Enjoy!
