Default Vintage Roof Mower

Found this old pic of a rare mower made by the Roof company in Pontiac Ill.The model was a VP 75.I got this mower last year, repaired the 8hp. Briggs motor and sold it.The mower was a 30in. cut sp and weighed about 300lbs.It was a beast to run and very akward. These mowers were also built to pull an optional riding sulky.Roof also built a mower called a Palamino which looked just like a Jeep with a mower deck.Parts for Roof mowers are basically non existant.

I think that there is a place in Pontiac that bought out the old factory when Roof went under. With a little scrounging, I could find out who it is. I work for a trucking company and we go to Pontiac daily. Seems to me it's one of the Ag implement dealers down there. (Sauder Rippel??)

Actually, I found they were bought out by the Bachtold Bros. mowers in Gibson City, IL.

Those Roof jeep things are pretty pricy.People are collecting and restoring them.Roof was bought by Bachtold but they went out of business too. That hi wheel had a brush cutter attachment that replaced the mower deck. It rode on skids like a Gravely but was totally open no guards.Would need to wear a full suit of body armor to operate LOL.

The only thing about that Roof Palimino is it's a repower. He says he has original parts, but he dosen't say he has the original engine. Or if he does the condition. And no deck .
Other than that I would love to have it.

875 miles aay from me...and the cloths dryer stopped heating today. Spent $200 on 2 cats this week. One of them isn't even ours. repairman shows tomorrow morning. Maytag Neptune drying center if you know what that is...

And my mother wants me to put a new roof on her shed this Saturday.

When it rains, it pours.
