Default my newest simplicity 1964 landlord restore...pics

well, im a wheel horse guy for the most part, but these old simplicitys are tanks!! i decided to try one out for size. she was a bit rough when i got her, but all metal was straight which was good!!!
it did have the original headlight bracket, but the lights were gone, so on went a set of custom chrome halogen lights, that i must say in person, look really sweet in my book, and bright as all!!!!!!!!!!!!
tractor runs flawless, and dont even need choke to start her at all...never. deck is as quiet as a new deck
heres a few pics of her.
this was a fun project, and oh, 1 more thing, simplicity paint..the powder orange from the dealer is probably THE BEST paint i have ever sprayed///thumbs way up to simplicity...goes on very very well.

BEAUTIFUL!
It brings back many memories as my brothers and I had the exact model as kids.
It's 9HP correct?

Fine job you did.

OK tell me, which way is the steering wheel supposed to go? I've seen them both ways. I thought they might be supposed to go the other way to clear the hood, or that way for more "lap" room?

Mine is just like this.

Damn, that's nice Bill! I recently picked up a nice straight, original '63 725. I prefer to keep them working original, but you got me thinking after seeing yours. I love the lines on these tractors and color also. My steering wheel is also oriented in the same way. That leads me to ask you a question. My steering wheel has a white under color. A lot is showing through. Did you have to re-paint yours? And if so, what did you use? Once again, very nice job.

i did not repaint my steering wheel at all, thats the way she was. im not sure what paint i would use on the steering wheel. if it were me, i may use krylon paint, which sticks to everything, and then maybe a satin clear coat...thats just me
thanks for the nice comments, it took alot of time, and captain and cokes to get this thing done!!

What colors did you use? Were they custom mixed or off the shelf??

i used simplicity paint direct from the dealer...its called powder orange, and is part #1685589
its really pretty paint, and has great coverage...i did maybe 4 thin coats to prevent runs, allowing about 15-20 minutes in between coats.

by the way, there is different shades of simplicity paint. this is the one that the guy said was for the "old" stuff, and he was right...a bit deeper orange.
